Penelope Crewel - Wool

Penelope Crewel didn't actually receive a name ,until she was nearly finished. I had used vintage tapestry wool on her hat and was looking at the now empty paper wrapper. I spotted the name Penelope Crewel Wool - so I glued the wrapper onto her front and that's how she got her name.

She has a paper clay head, which I have then covered in papier mache. The face has been painted ,but her rosy cheeks and mouth are ripped pieces of tinted paper. The hat is card, covered in ticking fabric and trimmed with the tapestry wool.
Her body is a plastic drinks bottle , packed with waste plastic and then has been covered in paper from a vintage book.
Her legs and feet are made from wood and cardboard ,covered in paper.
Her skirt has been coffee dyed (along with the rest of her ) and has a variety of vintage buttons stitched on with the tapestry wool.
Penelope measures about 35cms.

For decorative purposes only.
