Kanzashi Corsage

Kanzashi Corsage:

This kanzashi corsage is made in lush, rich coloured silk. Wearing this as a brooch will have everybody talking about the unique Japanese inspired item you've chosen. Made from quality materials like habotai silk, this piece feels classy and elegant.

A medium (3 inches diameter), 12 petal flower made of gold and cerise habotai silk.

There are pale pink stamens in the middle and it is backed with cerise felt and a brooch pin.

Please bear in mind that the colours you see on your screen may not exactly match the appearance of the kanzashi 'in the flesh', though I have tried to show them as accurately as possible!

Kanzashi Fascinator

Kanzashi Fascinator:

Made with a mixture of finest quality Japanese habotai silk and polyester polysilk. This kanzashi fascinator was inspired by my love of all things ombre (fade from one colour to another) so I decided to make some ombre kanzashi flowers myself! The additional colour give more texture to the piece, making a more subtle item than a plain coloured kanzashi.

A large (4 inches diameter), 16 petal flower with 2 layers of 8 petals around.

There are pale grey stamens in the middle and it is backed with brown felt and a crocodile hair clip.

The petals are:
Outer layer: Ivory polysilk, taupe silk, oyster silk, lavender silk, dusky purple polysilk

Inner layer: Purple silk, dusky purple polysilk, violet silk, lavender silk,

Please bear in mind that the colours you see on your screen may not exactly match the appearance of the kanzashi 'in the flesh', though I have tried to show them as accurately as possible!

Kanzashi Hair Garland in Purple, Green and Pink

This intricate hair garland is made up of 4 kanzashi flowers linked together by looped falls. Made up of over 100 individually handfolded habotai silk and polysilk kanzashi petals (predominantly silk) this kanzashi garland is one of a kind.

Each flower is centred with a gold coloured bead cap and backed with brown felt and a crocodile clip. The piece is designed to be worn garlanded through the hair but due to the flexible nature of the piece you can position the flowers as you like. It is recommended that you have help putting it on until you are used to wearing it.

This kanzashi headpiece was produced for The Guerrilla Fashion Show held in Brighton and was inspired by the exotic appearance of the Brighton Bandstand by night.

Kanzashi Fascinator with Falls in Purple and Mauve Habotai Silk with Falls

Made from habotai silk, giving it a soft texture and deep, lustrous colour, this elaborate kanzashi fascinator measures around 7 inches in length (including falls) and is 3.5 inches at the widest point. The small flowers are 1 inch across each and the central flower is 3 inches across.

Very labour intensive to produce, each tiny petal is handfolded from squares of silk. This is my most complex silk kanzashi flower to date and is inspired by the styles of kanzashi with falls worn in Japan by geisha and maiko. This will add an oriental feel to a western outfit or will perfectly complement a kimono or yukata.

The complexity of design makes it ideal as a wedding hair accessory, and the dangles will draw attention to the face of any blushing bride! Wearing a wedding kanzashi will make the bride look truly unique.

Silks used: Deep purple, mauve, oyster and taupe (all habotai).
