Princess and Pea Print

Princess and the Pea print (A4 size, unframed).

As we all know, a 'real' princess will bruise like a peach as a result of a tiny pea being placed beneath a tower of mattresses and feather quilts. This is a digitally coloured print of my original pen and ink drawing. I have embellished the print with two contrasting patterned papers, chosen especially to enhance the colour and character of the print, and making each truly unique.

The print is on 230gsm matt finish brilliant white professional photo paper the ink used are HP Vivera pigments offering long-term fade resistance, (lasting the equivalent of 200 plus years in test conditions).
The print has a small border to allow for framing and will be sent with a high quality ivory mount board and in a crystal clear cello bag.

Your print will be posted in a card backed envelope. I post first class.

Vintage doily Retro cushion - plus inner pad!

A wonderful retro cotton cushion embellished with a pristine vintage white doily (doilie). I have washed and pressed the doily which I have then carefully stitched to this fab pink floral cotton. The cushion is fully lined in fresh poly-cotton and the reverse side of the cushion is the same retro pink cotton as the front.
The cushion fastens at one side with two ivory satin ribbons which tie is generous bows as you can see in my pictures! This listing includes a 18" cushion pad which is the perfect fit for this gorgeous cushion.
The cover may be handwashed.

Romany Gypsy Wagon - original ink painting

Painted on 300g quality watercolour paper. I have used Winsor and Newton drawing inks to create wonderful jewel-like colours. It has proved tricky to capture these on camera but I hope you can see the stunning vibrancy of the inks.

The canvas of the roll-top wagon is jade green, and the surrounding woodwork a punchy bright pink. The decorative scroll-work is picked out in metallic gold which really does glint in the light! The trolley of the wagon is painted golden yellow with black wheels. I have added ears of wheat and their grass leaves around the bottom of the picture. I painted these in sandy caramel tones which I chose to contrast with the bright wagon.
Just inside the wagon doorway you can see a glimpse of fabric quilts and cushions. These are painted in pink and coral shades.

The painting measures 30cm x 39cm. I recommend the painting is framed with a acid-free mount to prevent moisure/condensation from coming into contact with the inks. If you are looking for a ready-made framing option, Ikea has frames that will suit which come with a cut mount.

I will send the painting in a card backed envelope with additional support card added to ensure the picture arrives to you in perfect condition. I post first class.

The Poacher's Daughter - OOAK Cloth Art Doll

The Poacher's Daughter is a chip off the old block - she wears a spiv's wool coat lined with her ill-gotten gains,...a duck, a salmon, a rabbit...and a fox (well, he was taking all the best rabbits, so he had to go!).
She is made from hand-painted calico and is a unique work. I have used acrylic paints mixed with an equal measure of textile medium to ensure the paint remains on the doll, and so that she still feels like fabric! I have designed her coat to be large enough to contain her trophies while still being able to close. Being a poacher's daughter she ties her coat with a belt of jute twine! Each animal has been carefully hand sewn. I have added a fabric belt to her trouser/blouse outfit and a little lace trim to the bottom of her trousers. The coat is able to be carefully removed.
Please note that The Poacher's Daughter is not a toy. The materials and paints I have used are NOT suitable for children. She is intended for you to enjoy and display as a fabric art-piece only.

A5 Illustrated love poem print - Robert Burns

I made this initially to include in a Folksy seller challenge to make something for Burns night which was inspired by Scotland.
I worked on a response to an extract from his great poem; Tam O'Shanter. I love this extract but it is a rather melancholy view of happiness. I felt inspired to write something that would express love's ablility to out-live the transience of life's events. So, with apologies to the great man himself and all Burn's purists, I have written my own verse.
I have illustrated the poems with an oak tree in which is snuggled a heart - the most obvious symbol of love.
The oak tree is one of my original pen and ink drawings which has been digitally printed and coloured. I have used a quality art card.
A white envelope is included in the sale.

I post first class and will ensure your print is protected with additional card for it's journey to you.

Blue-tit hoop wall hanging

A charming little wall art which I have stitched entirely by hand.

I embroidered this sweet little blue tit before layering it on a quilted circle of cotton calico. I have then further layered this calico and embroidery upon a fresh daisy print cotton. I have left the edges of the calico to fray a little as I really like the effect, however I have treated the edges to prevent them from continuing to fray beyond the desired effect! The fabric is securely captured in a 5" wooden embroidery hoop which makes a perfect little frame. I have stitched a red felt backing for a clean, neat finish.
I suggest using the tiny screw fastening of the embroidery hoop as a means by which to hang the little artwork, as I have shown in the first of my photographs.

The finished hoop is very sweet and naive; perfect for a little girl's room. Of course it would be equally pretty in a big girl's room, living room, bathroom or whichever room you choose!

I post first class, using as much recycled packaging as I can to minimise waste and costs. Please be assured however, that I will make certain your purchase is appropriately and carefully wrapped so as to be sure it arrives safe and sound.

Butterfly Painted Sea Shell

A pretty blue butterfly resting on clean smooth shell.
I picked up the little shell at my local beach; fascninated by the worn down ridges and how the underneath of the shell is almost pearlised. I painted this delicate butterfly blue using acrylic paints, adding tiny dots of white for defination.
The shell is quite a strong one but I will ensure that it is carefully wrapped prior to sending. This would make a sweet Valentine gift, tiny wedding wish or unusual display item.

Fabric Woodland Mushroom ornament

I've made this little mushroom from scraps of vintage cotton, loom quality calico, and green felt. I printed the tiny dotted stem myself and have stitched the underside of the mushroom with fern green embroidery cotton as can be seen in my photographs. The green felt base is weighted with a large old penny so the mushroom stands steady.
The mushroom measures 10cm or 4" tall and the green felt base measure 7cm across at it's widest point.
I shall post first class and, as usual, use as much reclaimed packaging as possible to minimise waste and costs.

Blue-tit bird egg cosy..

Are you a morning person? I'm not...and neither do I think is this blue-tit egg cosy. Cute as these familiar garden birds usually are...this one seems decidedly grumpy!

It would make a lovely and unusual Easter gift and is ideal for the morning grouch in your life!

Beautifully made using upcycled denim and various felts, it is also fully lined with a quality printed cotton the colours of which compliment those of the blue-tit perfectly.
I have given this ill-tempered bird a 3d beak which I hope you can see in my pictures.
The cosy stands 12cm tall, with 9.5cm wide base and I have sandwiched a layer of wadding between the lining the outer cover to ensure this egg cosy is functional as well as decorative and fun!

Postage is first class and I will ensure your little cosy is appropriately wrapped so as to make certain it arrives with you safely.

Atomic Flower Brooch

I love the atomic design of the 1950's, I especially like the fabrics of this era. In particular I think those of textile designer Lucienne Day are fabulous! Inspired by the shapes and forms used in these so-called 'atomic' designs I have created this little felt brooch. Made from golden yellow and black wool felts, I have used an upcycled black button as the centre of the flower. Shooting outwards from the button centre are sunburst effect stitches, each finished with a tiny black seedbead. The brooch fastens with a gold coloured brooch pin which is securely stitched to the reverse. I have shown this in my last photograph.
The brooch measures one and a half inches in diameter which is approximately 3.5cm.
The brooch is very simply presented on a handcut linen textured ivory card with crewel wool hanging loop.
I will post first class.

MOUSE MUM BOOK! Card and indian inks...

A special little book with fun illustrations and a sweet little message to show appreciation of all the things mums do!
The book is titled 'Sometimes...' . There follow four little illustrations of Mummy Mouse performing different circus skills...then a page which states: 'but always...' and overleaf you find the last page, which says simply 'my mum!'. This last page has an illustration of Mummy Mouse smiling as she greets Baby Mouse who has brought a berry as a gift for his mum.
There is only room for me to show four of the illustrations to be found within the book. There is an additional picture of mouse juggling, and another that says 'but always' in the same colour and style as the title page.
The book is printed on white card and each illustration is hand coloured using indian inks. In some of the illustrations mouse is seen throwing a handful of sparkles which I have painted using pink and gold inks. The gold ink is metalllic and really glints in the light!
The book is tied with yellow satin ribbon which acts as a hinge to allow the book to be opened for reading. It is A5 in size.
I post first class, and will make certain the little book is protected for it's journey to you so as to ensure it's safe arrival.

Purple bird brooch - felt and fabric

A stylised bird brooch, made using felts in contrasting shades of purple. I have created a simple wing from a tiny piece of remnant cotton fabric which compliments these purple shades with tones of violet and mauve. This brooch is entirely hand-stitched, fastens with a 1" silver-tone brooch bar on the back, and would look great pinned to a jacket or bag.
The bird measures 3 1/2 inches long and approximately 1 and 3/4 inches wide.

Blue bird fabric and felt keyring

A cute keyring made from a dainty floral cotton and plain blue felt. The body of the bird is slightly padded as I have sandwiched a little layer of batting between the fabric and felt layers.
The bird's wing is golden yellow felt topped with the same floral cotton as the body. I have added decorative yellow stitching. The eye is a circle of ivory felt with and tiny shiny blue bead centre, and the beak is a triangle of brown felt.
The bird measures 11cm in length and the key ring is 2.5cm in diameter.

Needle book - original painting fabric print

I've created this little needlebook using a wonderful upholstery quality linen fabric in a bright and fresh spring green colour. On the front of the book I have hand stitched a fabric print of an original painting of mine. The painting is of red clover flowers and their pinky red shades look so pretty against the fresh green linen. I have added tiny cross stitches to each corner of the print as added embellishment, and have treated the edges of the print fabric so as to ensure they do not fray.
Inside, the book is fully lined in an ivory cotton fabric and there are four 100% wool felt pages in which to store your needles and pins. The outer pages are slighty larger than the centre ones as can be seen in the picture of the open book.
The book fastens with fuchsia ribbon ties that are comfortably long enough to be tied in a pretty bow!

Sleepy Mouse

Framed within a 5 untreated pine embroidery hoop, Sleepy Mouse is safe and warm!
I have printed and digitally enhanced my original pen and ink drawing onto calico cotton fabric. Sleepy Mouse has additional 3d whiskers and a stitched tail for added dimension. The little blanket Mouse carries has been further hand coloured to add a vibrant little pop of colour to the picture.
The hoop is backed with a gorgeous coral pink felt which I have lovingly handstiched to ensure the reverse of the piece is every bit as lovely as the front!
I post first class.

Little Red Riding Hood - Collectable Fairytale Doll Set

'Don't Stray From the Path' -A set of mini fairy tale characters in a felt drawstring bag.

This familiar story of the little girl who strays from the path while wondering alone in the wild woods began life as a European folk tale and was first published in 1697. In has since been subject to many adaptations and interpretations. I like the darker versions of the tale, which I think are more akin the original telling of the story.

This heirloom set includes the story's four main characters: Little Red Riding Hood, the Wolf, Grandmother, and the heroic Woodcutter.

Each character has been printed on calico cotton from my original ink drawings. I have then meticulously hand embroidered each figure to enhance and further define their appearance. I have given a red fabric cloak to Little Red Riding Hood, and a shawl to Grandmother which is made from a segment of a crocheted doily.
The tallest figure measures 10cm (Little Red Riding Hood, including her hood!) down to 8cm at the smalles (diminuitive Grandmother!).
Each is filled with just the right amount of polyester toy filling to retain their individual shape and charm.
The set comes with a little bag made from charcoal felt with a print of my original wolf drawing on the front. It closes using drawstrings made from white lace and measures approx 18.5cm x 13.5cm.
I am sorry that the set is unsuitable as children's toy.

Vintage Green Fabric Hanging Bird

A sweet little bird made from a gorgeous vintage cotton in various shades of leafy greens and lemon yellows. I have given this little decorative bird a contrasting oatmeal coloured breast from 100% wool felt.
Little bird hangs from a loop made from crocheted crewel yarn in a soft green shade. She has a light tan felt beak, eyes that are made from black seed beads centred on tiny circles of oatmeal felt. She is firmly filled with polyester toy filling and measures approx 3 1/2" long and is 3" at her tallest. The hanging loop measures 3 1/2" long.

Wolf Keyring

This keyring features my original illustration of a wolf's face; with the eyes being the main focus of the picture.
The illustration is printed on unbleached calico cotton and decoratively stitched to a double layer of 100% wool felt. The felt is a deep pinky maroon colour. The raw edges of the calico have been treated to prevent fraying. I have given the wolf a charcoal felt nose and additional embroidery stiches to further define the ears.
The keyring itself is attached to the felt tag by a loop of sturdy white lace, which looks delicate but is plenty strong enough!
The felt tag/wolf measures 3" from chin to ear tip, and including the lace loop and split ring measures a tiny bit over 5".
Please note: wolf will not cope with getting wet, so please avoid inclement weather :)

Fabric Bright Bird with Yellow Tail-feathers!

I am delighted to introduce to you Barbara!
This super vibrant little bird is made from a fabulously funky fabric that has a heavy 70's vibe!
I have no idea what the fabric is made from but it's a crepe-like synthetic that I'm certain is a 70's original! Whatever it is, it's really bright!
A sunshine yellow satin riibbon is looped for hanging and securely stitched so that Barbara can shimmy and shoogle wherever she is hung. Barbara's wings have a base layer of sunny yellow felt and a top layer of the groovy material. I have made Barbara some tail-feathers to shake! She has two layers of little feathers made from the same popping yellow felt that I have used for her wings.
Like all my birds, Barbara is plumped with just the right amount of polyester toy filling and has tiny black seed beads for eyes, which I have centred upon little circles of ivory felt so they really stand out!
This little chickadee measures approx. 12cm long from the tip of brown felt beak to the end of her yellow tail-feathers. Barbara measures about 5cm tall and the looped ribbon measures approximately 8.5cm.

Little Red Riding Hood charm necklace

Narrative Necklace
I have made this original necklace to represent the story and characters of the traditional and popular fairytale of Little Red Riding Hood. I have been gathering and designing the charms over several weeks and have taken great care to find peices that I felt were just right for the necklace I had in mind to make! I wanted to ensure each charm had a natural, organic feel, so no plastics or acrylics here!
It's central and focal charm is a hand-embroidered textile Red Riding Hood figure, designed from my original ink drawing. On either side of the little girl are the wolf, an axe, a fang, a pair of glasses (granny's), a wolf's tail (faux fur),a toadstool, and a little beaded flower (hand cut and embellished).
The wolf face is my original ink drawing applied to a slice of tree-branch from my garden. I have dried the slice slowly and added several coats of eggshell varnish to the finished piece.
The chain and split rings I've chosen have an antiqued bronze finish. The necklace measures a total of 24" and fastens with a lobster clasp.
Post is first class.

Kizzy is a stunning little bird made from surface print black cotton which is contrasted with an ivory eco-felt breast. The black print cotton is covered in pretty scatterings of pink-purple and ivory flowers with the sweetest green foliage. I have created wings for Kizzy using a base of the ivory felt with a top layer of the gorgeous black floral cotton. Her beak is made from a light tan eco-felt and her eyes are tiny black seedbeads which I have centered on little circles of the ivory felt. Kizzy stands happily on re-purposed copper wire legs and like all my birds she is plumped with polyester toy filling to ensure she maintains her pefect shape!
Post is first class.
(Eco felt is felt that is made from recycled plastic bottles.)

Sienna - an abstract patterned fabric bird!

I have named this little bird Sienna because of the gorgeous burned orange shades within this glorious abstract patterned fabric.
The fabric is a wonderful blend of this rusty orange alongside a deep reddy brown as well as navy, tan, olive and fern greens. Perhaps surprisingly, these work together wonderfully well and the pattern effect is like the best, most fabulous savanna sun-set!
I have given this delightful little bird a warm tan eco-felt breast to compliment the tone of the patterned fabric. Her beak is made from a slightly darker tan wool felt and her tiny black seed bead eyes are mounted on little circles of the same tan felt as used for her breast.
Like all my birds, Sienna is perfectly plumped with polyester toy filling and is very happily free-standing on re-purposed copper wire legs.
Post is first class.
Please note: Due to the recent postal increases it now costs the same to post two birds as it does to post one. If you choose to purchase two birds at the same time I will refund postage for the second through paypal.

Rabbit Doorstop - Hector!

The original Clootielugs Rabbit Doorstop.
Meet Hector! This handsome fellow stands proud and alert, ready to do duty at your door! Please note... postage and packaging are included in the price you see, there is no additional charge.
He stands approximately 33cm tall and is extremely generously weighted with a secure bag of playsand.
His cute little nose is made from tan eco -felt while his huge amber eyes look up at you full of love and admiration!
He boasts a gorgeous full pom-pom tail made from a brown mix yarn. His body is a classy wool-based checked fabric while the underside of his base (can I talk about a gentleman this way?) is a robust tan coloured cotton twill.

Delightful as Hector is, it is important that I state he is unsuitable for use as a toy.

I have included the cost of postage in the price of Hector so there are no nasty postage cost surprises! I will send Hector snuggly sleeping, securely wrapped, and cushioned in bubble-wrap within a sturdy postal sack .
Please note that I use as much recycled packaging as possible to minimise waste and postal costs.

Blue-Tit - Embroidery Hoop with applique - sweet wall art!

So pretty and fresh! Ideal for a little girls room but would be equally delightful in a living room or big girl's bedroom!

The wonderfully colourful floral fabric is from a vintage cotton pillowcase. I drew and embroidered a sweet little blue-tit which I have then appliqued to the floral background. The piece is framed in a 5" wooden embroidery hoop, which makes a sweet frame and is easy to hang.
As always I have neatly finished the reverse of the hoop. To compliment the colours of the front cotton I selected a vibrant blue felt which I have then carefully stitched to the back of the piece. This can be seen in my final photograph.

I post first class and as always, will ensure your purchase is carefully and appropriately packaged to make certain it reaches you in perfect condition. xx

Blue Vintage Floral Fabric Bird

Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue...

Mhari is a delightful bird for any occasion however I feel she is destined for romance; particularly as she embodies all the elements of this traditional bridal recipe for success!
Let me explain...
Mhari is new but is created from old, the fabric from which she is made is vintage.
The copper wire I have used for her legs is striped (borrowed) from 3-core electrical cabling. Hmmm... very romantic.....but please, stick with me on this...
The background hue of the gently worn cotton is a softly faded blue...far more gentle than any camera or computer monitor can convey...
and the icing on the cake - as if any were needed - is the floral detail in the fabric which is depicted in washed-out vintage shades of primrose yellow, salmon pink, sage green and rubbed reds. There are a sprinkling of polka dots and sprigs of foliage in antique-white dotted amongst the flowers. It all adds up to ensure that Mhari is the very personification of birdy romance...a true 'tweetheart' you might say!

I have used carded polyester toy filling to ensure Mhari is plump and gorgeous and that she will retain her enviable shape for years to come. I have given her tiny black seed bead eyes which I have mounted on little circles of white felt and a beak that is cut from a rich brown felt.
