<title>Oak Jewellery Box - Arts and Crafts Style</title>
<description>This is my idea of an Arts and Crafts Style box. It's made from some lovely pieces of reclaimed quarter-sawn oak which clearly display the distinctive markings of the medullary rays. The exposed tenon joints (typical of Arts and Crafts design) are wedged with bog oak.The overall external dimensions are about 10 1/2 x 5 1/2 x 4

The box is fitted with one partitioned tray of just over 1 depth, made from sycamore. Both the tray and the base of the box are lined with a red velvetty material.

Wedding Anniversaries?

It&#8217;s worth remembering that wood is the traditional gift for a fifth wedding anniversary, as well as being the modern gift for a sixth wedding anniversary! Why not give this lovely box? I have another jewellery box for sale here.

If you have any questions about the box or need additional photographs, please message me.</description>

      <title>Post-it note memory stick 2GB USB</title>
<description>Here's a novelty memory stick; handmade from a lovely piece of sycamore and designed to accept a standard pad of 3 x 1 Post-Its. That's really useful.

It houses a 2GB memory and measures about 4 (100mm) long.

I'm told 2 GB will accept anything between 500 and 2000 photographs depending on quality settings. Or 500 MP3s at 128 kB/s.

<title>Celtic cross pendant in yew wood</title>
<description>This pendant is in the style of the Celtic cross. I just did some research on the symbolism of this type of cross, and found a whole host of explanations for the circle cutting through the cross.

Whatever, it's a beautiful symbol, and when coupled with the beauty of yew wood, makes a most attractive pendant. The yew is especially appropriate since it is surrounded by myth and is associated with the Tree of Life concept that can be traced through Celtic and Nordic tradition back to the Neolithic Age.

The pendant measures 2 3/4 x 2, has a lovely smooth feel, and hangs on an adjustable leather thong.

<title>Cotton bobbin wooden USB memory stick 4GB</title>
<description>I had made one or two of these some time ago, but they had to be bigger than the original bobbin due to the size of the inserts then available. Things have moved on, and I'm now able to buy miniature USB inserts. These bobbins are therefore the same size as the old wooden cotton reelsI'm really delighted how these have turned out. What a great gift for a dressmaker, milliner, tailor or textile artist!

As this memory stick is slightly chunkier than the standard plasticky version, I'll provide a short USB extension lead with it.

I'm told 4 GB will accept anything between 1000 and 4000 photographs depending on quality settings. Or 1000 MP3s at 128 kB/s. Why not give one as a gift with a 'family album already loaded!

<title>Yarn lovers' sett gauge or wpi gauge</title>
<description>This is a sett gauge or a &#8216;Wraps per Inch' gauge.

Fibre artists, spinners, yarn lovers, knitters and weavers will all know what it&#8217;s for.

For those who don&#8217;t know, it&#8217;s a little tool to help measure what gauge your yarn will knit to. The number of times your chosen yarn wraps around the gauge tells you Wraps per Inch (wpi) of the yarn.

Armed with that information, you'll be able to choose which pattern to use for yarn already in your stash.

The gauge has a one inch measure as well as a half inch one for lightweight yarns (double the count of course, before consulting the chart) and it comes with a fabric lanyard and it's in a velvety pouch. I&#8217;ll also include with the gauge, a wpi chart for different weights of yarn

The stunning yarn shown in the photograph is not included! The gauges pictured are about 6 (150mm) long, are made from different varieties of wood. If you have a preference, please tell me (the photographs are numbered) when you order.

<title>A diamond, silver and ebony ring</title>
<description> I am enchanted by the possibilities that wood can offer to the world of jewellery. I have found that working with wood at this scale opens the eyes to a different world: the micro-beauty of wood.

My rings, I feel, bring out this beauty to perfection.

They are stronger than I dared to hope, but do need a little more care than those of precious metals. For instance, immersion in water is not recommended.

No two rings can ever be exactly alike, but if you need a ring in a different size to those shown here, I can normally craft one very similar.

I do favour a finish that allows the &#8216;woodiness&#8217; of the material to show through rather than a glossy varnish and most of what I have on sale feature a hard wax finish. I'll supply this ring in a special handcrafted wooden ringbox.

Wedding Anniversaries?

It&#8217;s worth remembering that wood is the traditional gift for a fifth wedding anniversary, as well as being the modern gift for a sixth wedding anniversary!

Superstitious?

&#8230;then with a wooden ring on your finger, you can always &#8216;Touch Wood&#8217;!

This ring is a United Kingdom size O. It's made from ebony and features a genuine natural diamond in a silver setting. The shank, at the back,is about 7mm wide, and the rectangular front surface is about 18mm x 12mm.
The white diamond is 2mm in diameter.

I must be honest, that I added to the sparkle by a little digital faffing.

<description>This novelty needle case stands about 2 1/2 / 65mm high and is about 1 3/4 or 45mm diameter. I made it to take needles up to 2 long, so the proportions are different to a standard cotton reel. I have made it from well-seasoned ash. The lid is a push fit.

<description> These buttons measure around 3 1/4 or 80mm and I have a number for sale in a range of different types of wood. (Number 12 is about 70mm) Being handmade, sizes may vary by a few millimetres.
I've seen them used as a feature on a scarf or bag and they'd be just great as a feature on a woollen hat.

Also... just recently I have been asked for sets of giant buttons to make wall decorations in the buyers' sewing rooms!

Buttons may differ slightly from the featured library pictures. I can make any size in any of a great variety of types of wood. And I'll be repeating some of the already sold styles so please ask.

      <title>Nostepinne yarn winder</title>
<description>...or it could be a n&#248;stepinde, nystepinne, nosty or yarn ball winder. A Scandinavian nest stick is just the right tool, after a bit of practice, for creating centre pull balls of yarn that are much tidier than a birds' nest!

Yarn fiends of all persuasions will find one of these really useful.

I'm showing two here in a light mahogany type of timber. All are hand-turned, so each one is unique. I have incorporated (craftily, I thought) a 'wraps per inch' gauge into the handle. Overall the nostepinne measures around 10" and the 'working part is 5". If you have a preference for one in a different variety od wood, just ask. The beautiful yarn is not included, of course.

Type nostepinne in to YouTube to see how they work.

      <title>Special Oak Keepsake Box</title>
<description>The lid of this keepsake box or chest is made from an amazing piece of burr oak that has lived in my workshop for quite some time. It was too beautiful to cut down in size, so this box is a big one! The lid retains its natural bark edging. Internally, the box measures 12" x 8 3/4" x 7" and it will easily accept A4 documents. The body of the box is made of nicely figured oak jointed with graduated through dovetails. I made the hinge from a piece of quarter-sawn oak which clearly displays its distinctive markings.

It is fitted with one partitioned tray of about 1 1/2" depth, made from figured sycamore. Both the tray and the base of the box are lined with deep purple velvet.

Wouldn't it make a fine needlework box!

Wedding Anniversaries?

If you have any questions about the box or need additional photographs, please message me. The contents shown in my photographs are not included.
