Folksy : Russell Paige Ceramics

I make small batches of pottery from my studio in the Cotswolds. They are thrown on the potters wheel. I love the fluidity and ease of the potters wheel and am always developing my throwing with new shapes and designs. Please check out www.russellpaigeceramics.co.uk for further details on my background and other work.

Unheimlich Jug

This is a wood fired, stoneware, soda glazed Jug with gold lustre detail. It was hand thrown on the wheel and then slip cast additions were added. The idea for this piece was to combine loose fluid throwing with contrasting baroque detailing to give the piece an uncanny beauty.

It is approximately 11x14cm.

Due to the hand-made nature of the pieces they may differ slightly from the photograph shown.

Spilt Milk Semi

I like to experiment with everyday objects and include them in my work. I am always on the hunt for new ideas and sometimes they come from the most unexpected objects! This was an idea I had whilst I was at University and I have finally got around to making it!

This is a slip-cast novelty mug, the shape of which was taken from a 1 pint milk carton. It is cast in porcelain, glazed to stoneware and then a transfer is applied to mimic the label.

It comes out slightly smaller than a 1 pint due to shrinkage.

Other variations of the label are available, Just have a look or email me for any special requirements.

Due to the hand made nature of the piece it may differ slightly from the photo.

McTeapot Coke

This set of work was modelled directly from McDonalds packaging to create the main body of each teapot. The handles and spouts were made by hand and then moulds were created from these. The teapots are slip cast porcelain. The decoration was applied by using on glaze transfer which was also taken directly from the packaging. The additional on glaze colour was applied by hand.
