The main body of the bag is woven check fabric, with a leather band around the top quarter. This bag is what I call a perfect "all-day" size without being so large that you can put enough in it to be too heavy to carry! The handles are designed to fit over your shoulder even if you're wearing a coat, but are not so long that if you hold they bag in your hand it drags on the floor (well for me at least, and I'm only 5 foot 4 inches tall - there's a couple of inches spare too from bag to floor) Pockets - there is one small external pocket (for bus-tickets or even a phone), and 3 internal pockets (one the length of one side with a zip closure) Closure - the bag closes with a magnetic clasp.
