Prince 2009 - 2011 I made these little porcelain heart Christmas decorations to have a modern feel with a simple silhouette and crisp red thread, but I added the classic texture of vintage lace to create contrast and ensure that they will stand the test of time. Because of the intricate patterns in the lace, each one is slightly different and unique. Hang them up on your Christmas tree or around your home, or attach them to gifts and cards for those you love. I hang them from climbing plants and trees in my garden in summer too! I made these little sweet hearts to look like fairytale Hansel and Gretel style decorations. Each one was individually hand cut and stamped from strong textured clay, and glazed with a glossy deep pinky red glaze. These little hearts have many uses.They look sweet for decoration inside your home, but I have some that I hang from branches and climbing plants in the garden too. Alternatively, use them as wedding decorations and favours, or attach them to gifts for those you love. I pressed vintage lace into the cream clay whilst it was still soft to create intricate pattern and texture in the surface of this little bird bowl, and added my new vibrant turquoise colour glaze to the surface. The underside is unglazed with a little fabric texture. There are many uses for the little bowl. Keep it by your bed to keep earrings safe, use it as a little soap dish or put a little candle in it at night. The colour and texture inside are so pretty you might decide to keep it empty for decoration. It measures approx 3.5 x 4 inches and is 1.25 inches tall. (9 x 10 x 3cm) I have made a couple of these, so the one you will receive is unique. It may vary very slightly because each one is handmade, but I promise that it will be extremely similar to the one in the main picture and equally pretty! PrinceDesignUK Thu, 15 Dec 2011 17:40:18 +0000 http://folksy.com/items/2782302 http://folksy.com/items/2782302 Lovebird bowls I call this bowl my rain forest leaf bowl, because the glaze inside it reminds me of warm summer rain making pools in bowl shaped leaves, and of hot days swimming in tropical lakes during the time I spent in Brazil. This bowl was glazed with my own special combination of ingredients, including some recycled glass from empty bottles and jars that blended with the glaze to give a stunning crystalline watery effect. The glass forms a perfectly smooth surface to the bottom of the bowl, but beneath the surface it cracks and fragments. These cracks catch the light and sparkle like jewels. It would make the perfect holder for a candle, it's great as a soap dish, or you could use it to keep rings and jewelry safe. I keep mine on my bathroom windowsill so that the crackles under the surface catch the sunlight and glisten. It's delicate shape was given strength by my use of very strong, textured, creamy white clay, which I fired to stoneware temperature. I didn't glaze the outside, and added a little subtle fabric texture because I wanted the natural beauty of the clay to shine through and create contrast. This piece measures approx 6 x 5 x (height)1 inches (15 x 13 x 2.5cm) Please note, it is not intended for food or dishwasher use. I always loved the idea, but never really liked the end product, so I decided to take matters into my own hands... The texture of flock wallpaper was imprinted into the surface of the clay, and the duck silhouette was pared down for a contemporary feel. Finally they were coated in bright lime green. The ducks are are suitable for use inside your home. They have fixings on the back, so they can be easily hung from nails in your wall.
