Each swallow is delicately handmade by the artist, re-using everyday materials such as newspaper and card. No armature is used within and the form is carefully crafted by compacting and sculpting the newspaper from scratch. The pieces are finished by meticulously applying tiny cut pieces of gold paper, floral and patterned imagery using the decoupage technique. The birds are finished with a satin varnish seal. Each bird has a secure gold loop fixture at the back so can be easilly fixed onto a picture nail in the wall. The flying swallows are a one off, original piece and are ready to be shipped straight away. They will arrive in a gift box - a perfect present. Each letter is carefully sculpted and shaped by hand and supported by a card base. The stripey patterning has been cut and meticulously applied by hand. The result is a smooth, solid, curved form with a flat back, which can be easilly hung flush on a wall with nails or double sided sticky tape.
