About Miss Ava's Millinery

Miss Ava's Millinery

Traditionally handcrafting hats and fascinators since 2014.

Hi! I'm Sarah, the milliner behind Miss Ava's Millinery.

I launched Miss Ava's Millinery back in 2014, having a year earlier done a massive career pivot from my original life as an archaeologist and cabaret performer. Inspired by my love of vintage fashion, life long creative streak, and hearing of ancestors who were milliners I set off to learn the foundation skills of hat making and instantly fell in love with it.

Fast forward to now, and I'm now based in a cozy studio space in Chatham, Kent, with possibly one of the town's best views over the River Medway. Here I use traditionally millinery techniques to handcraft hats, fascinators, veils and headpieces, with each piece of headwear being shaped on blocks and hand sewn.

I offer both ready to wear and bespoke headwear for all genders, with my clients including fabulous people getting married and their proud mums, glam wedding guests, amazing cabaret performers, television productions and photoshoots, and some great individuals who simply love hats! If you ever can't find the right hat for you, just get in touch and let's have a chat about making it happen.

If you peek behind the scenes in my studio (as you often can do if you find me on Instagram as @MissAvasMillinery), you might just find me sharing my latest sneak peeks of work in progress, giving glimpses into the hat making processes I use, or indulging my love of tea and cake.
