For those new to bookbinding, and for jewellery makers who want to expand their skills, this gives all the information needed to make the tiny book.

You will need crafting skills such as cutting and sewing. If you are an accurate, careful worker, you will find this straightforward.

There are useful sections on paper-grain, wet-tearing and making folios, all of which are applicable to bookbinding generally.

There are instructions for different methods of attaching the pendant to a chain with or without jewellery equipment.

I usually send ebooks within 48 hours but often sooner. The book is in PDF format and may be printed for personal use.

<title>How to make Hedi Kyle's Blizzard Book with Suede Leather Cover e-book Tutorial</title>
<description>This version of Hedi Kyle's book has a leather or suede cover which is folded around the pages and secured with a button. I have devised a decorative method of binding the book together using waxed cord but without stitching.

If you are an experienced crafter, you will find this book straightforward to make. It does require some expertise in measuring, cutting, folding and glueing. You also need a bit of a feel for paper.

The original design relies on the strength of the folded paper to keep it from tearing. You would need to use something like Tyvek or Elephant hide. My version is supported which means you can use any type of paper without fear of it coming apart. Once you have made one version, you will think of many others.

I have done a lot of experimenting, primarily using Konnyaku starch, to help strengthen weaker papers, which is another way of getting round the design fault. However, the process is lengthy so, in general, the supported version is more useful, especially if the book is to be used often.

This e-book tutorial will be sent as a PDF file and may be printed for personal use.

      <title>Hare Print from Vintage Chromolithograph</title>
<description>Beautiful NEW hare print from a vintage chromolithograph which was taken from a disbound copy of the Illustrated Natural History published in 1902 and printed in Wurtemberg, Germany.

This listing is for a digitally enhanced new print on acid-free paper, using Ultrachrome K3 inks. It is not the actual page from the book.

To create this modern print, I lightened the background, removed some of the marks but left enough of the original to give it character. I then annotated the page with information from the book. If you would like the print without the writing, as shown in the second picture, then please specify at checkout.

Paper Size: 20 x 15 cm or 8 x 6 ins approx.

All prints whether modern, antique or vintage, should not be exposed to direct sunlight.

The print will be packed securely in a card-backed envelope and posted first class, or via airmail if overseas.</description>

<title>Journal Kit to make a Medieval, Natural Calf Leather Book</title>
      <description>Mediaeval Calf Leather Journal Kit

The kit contains the following materials:

1) Vegetable-tanned calf leather in a natural colour, sufficient to make the cover for ONE journal.
2) Leather for the closure.
3 Waxed cord for sewing.
4) Paper for the pages.
5) Detailed instructions will be e-mailed to you as a PDF file but if you would prefer a CD, I can send one instead. Just let me know at checkout.

The PDF file contains step-by-step foolproof instructions, showing you how to make this lovely journal. There are many detailed photographs and diagrams, ensuring success even if you have never made a book before.

The book has 6 sections of 4 folios (folded pages). That's 24 folios, making 48 leaves or 96 pages (sides).

It measures about 3 x 3.5 x 1 ins OR 8 x 9 x 3 cm

The first photograph shows the book made in natural calf.

The second photograph shows books made by members of my bookbinding class (at Artsway in the New Forest) none of whom had made a book before. As you can see these have plain covers.

The tutorial also gives ideas for decorating your cover, including tips for dyeing and painting the leather. Some painted journals can be seen in the third photograph.

<title> I LOVE YOU - Teeny, Tiny, Valentine Blizzard BOOK in Masu Box</title>
<description>This special, teeny, tiny Valentine's book is a dinky little version of a 'Blizzard' book. I designed it to fit in a tiny masu box with a matching cover smothered in love hearts. It took a while to create this design with all sorts of digital shenanigans but it was worth it for the result.

As this is such a small book, I decided to make the cover and concertina pages with one piece of paper which slots into the spine piece.

This binding is very springy so the book will stand up on its own to display your message. Once inside the box, the book will want to escape and almost jumps out when you open the lid!

The inks are archival for longevity (70-100 years) so the colour should last as long as your love, if not longer!

The front cover reads: LOVE YOU

The back cover reads: REAL LOVE

The pages read: I L O V E Y O U

This would make a delightful surprise gift for the one you love.

If you would like to make this book, look for the listing in my shop.
