Handmade Porcelain Pottery by littlewrenpottery on Folksy. If you've ever seen the film White Christmas (who hasn't!) you'll know that every time a bell rings an Angel gets it's wings. During the holidays bells are a sign of good luck for the coming year, I created these colourful decorations for you to hang at home and hopefully they'll bring you some good fortune too! Each one was handmade from rolled out porcelain clay and cut into the shape of bells. They feature small dots of red enamel where the bell clapper would be. The ornaments are strung using white raffia ribbon from a small hole at the top and the whiteness of the clay really contrasts well with the dark green of a spruce pine tree. The Sun and Moon rule over our long hazy summer days and dark wintery starry nights, this pair of plates were inspired by this traditional motif ready to serve you throughout the seasons. I created each of these plates by throwing them on my potters wheel using white devonshire stoneware clay. Each one has a flat eating area made my compressing the clay downwards and a beveled upward rim to form the edge of each plate. The bottom of each plate has a shallow foot ring on the bottom so that they'll sit flat on your dining table. Each plate was decorated with a brown slip to create the sun and moon motifs and then glazed over in a glossy pepper yellow giving an earthy traditional look. Handmade Stoneware Pottery by littlewrenpottery on Folksy. I'm often inspired by the ancient pottery of other cultures and this vase is a tribute to the symmetrical pottery of the Greeks. This vase would add an element of drama to any room and would be equally striking filled with delicate garden flowers or simply empty on a mantlepiece. This piece was hand thrown on my pottery wheel from stoneware clay, I also created two small handles to give the pot a classic Grecian silhouette. A glossy mirror black decorates the outside of the piece and a simple transparent on the inside brings out the natural sandy colour of the clay. A 'splash' decoration was created on the front using wax to make a contrast between the light and dark areas of the pot. This piece can be cleaned in the dishwasher or carefully by hand. I created these cups by hand throwing both the body of the cup and the stem from durable white stoneware clay on my potters wheel. They feature a distinctive v shape, rounded drinking edge and gentle throwing rings where my hands have pulled the clay upwards. A browny green glaze called 'Lichen' decorates the inside and outside of each piece with it's deep natural colour. It's glossy finish shows where the glaze has slightly pooled in the ridges of each piece giving Lichen it's characteristic mossy tones. Each of these substantial jars were created to add a homely touch and rustic flair to create a unique countryside kitchen. Their farmhouse feel was inspired by the traditional everyday English pottery of 1700's. Each jar features a tall stout shape, gently curled out rim and deep set lid with a thrown decorative knob. I hand stamped tea, coffee and sugar letters onto the front of each pot and have been left unglazed to make them stand out from the body of the pot. Each piece has been glazed in natural brown which has a soft speckled finish which is satin to the touch, throwing rings add texture to the glaze where my hands have pulled the clay upwards during throwing.
