I love the idea of shabby chic but wanted to give it a twist.I have loads of bits and bobs at home so I thought how can I combine everything, and this is what I came up with. This decorative birds next is housed in an elegant cocktail glass. The nest is made up from twigs, bits of lace, printed ribbon, shimmering thread all to make up this shabby chic themed item. I have used a combination of gold and pinky purple for the colour theme, the eggs in the middle are decouaged with flowery paper and covered in crackle glaze. The stem of the glass is covered with printed cotton with french postcard text adn a purple ribbon. This item will be posted in a box and loooooads of bubble wrap. I will post it with material over the top of the glass as all components are loose inside the glass. This blue and cream coloured nest rests in a clear glass teacup.It is made up from bits of lace, twigs, printed fabric, netting and Swarovksi beads, a real magpies nest. The wooden eggs have been decoupaged with french text from an old postcard dating back to 1906. This item will be posted in a box and a looooad of bubble wrap.As all bits are lose insode the cup I shall place fabric over the top, to be removed once received. Who says that everyday items have to be dull?! I have decorated these glass salt and pepper shakers, just under 5 tall, with a shabby glam feel to them. I have kept the colours neutral and decorated them with strips of frayed cotton fabric which I have printed with text from an old french postcard from 1906.Then I have sewn on letter charms embellished with diamantes, one with P the other with S.They can be for practical use or for decoration. The decorative elements can be easily untied when you would like to wash the shakers. Please do not wash the fabric strips as printing will fade. Here is a mini piece of 7x5cm art on canvas with its own wooden easel. I have used a paper image of one of my Fairy Whispers print(if you'd like the image as an A4 print please go to my Silent Theatre shop). On top of the image I have added black net and embellished it with a row of diamantes and wax with glaze over the top, with more diamantes embedded in it.For added shine I also added glaze to the fairy wings. This bird measures approx 18cm across and 11cm in height and it comes with its own ribbon loop so you can hang it where ever you like. I designed and printed the fabric by using the handwritten text on an old french postcard, and mixing it with some gorgous pink flowers. The wings are only sewn on at the top, giving the decoration a bit of movement, and its eyes are lilac coloured buttons which I have sewn on. The image has a sheet of music for the background, the little Edwardian fairy, complete with wings and crown, is surrounded by beautiful pink roses. So with my new design I decided to make some lavender bags. You will receive 3 lavender bags, each measure 13x8cm's or 5x3 inches, with a pink ribbon loop to hang them from. These lavender bags have an image on them made up from old text, music sheets, a fairy and angel kissing, stars and flowers. They have been made from a combination of machine and hand sewing, each have been stuffed with a mix of safety standard polyester stuffing and lavender. These lavender bags can be used in shoes, your undies draw,hang them on clothes hangers to fragrance your clothes or just purely as decoration, hanging from a nail on the wall or from a door handle. This is a lavender bag which measures approx 11.5cm by 10cm. I have printed the fabric using a masculine old world map of America and mixed it with feminine butterflies. I have sewn it using a mix of machine and hand sewing, it also has a crimson ribbon loop so you can hang it up. This is ideal as decoration, hung on a wall or from a door.Or keep it on a hanger to frangrance your clothes. There is no reason why it can't also be used as a pin cushion. Here is a lavender bag which measures approx 9.5cm by 12cm's. The fabric has an image printed on it of an old french postcard from 1906, I have also embellished it with pink roses. You can hang this up using the pink ribbon loop, on the wall, from a door handle.Or keep it in your clothes draw or hang it from a hanger in your cupboard to frangrance your clothes. I like the things I make to be as practical and pretty as possible, so here is a set of decorative fridge magnets made with clothes pegs and a couple of mini pencils. I have decorated the 5 pegs and 2 mini pencils with shabby chic style, french text paper. Each element has a very strong magnet glued onto it (so strong that when I tried to glue the magnets on they kept sliding along the glue heading towards the metal parts of the peg). These decorative magnets are perfect for your fridge or any metal area where you need to keep letters or kids drawings etc.The pencils are handy to have to hand instead of hunting round the house for something to write with. Please note these magnets ar so strong, please keep them away from anyone with a pace maker or anything like a mobile phone. I love to print my own fabric and wondered how I could use it in a different way. Here is a set of 4 blank cards measuring 5"x 5". Each has a focal point of a sqaure of printed fabric, its edges have been cut with pinking sheers. I recall a couple of years back that a pair of Queen Victorias bloomers sold for over £9,000 at auction, this got me thinking. With the Jubilee celebrations coming up I thought about flags and bunting, combining the 2 I came up with this DIY set of components. Bloomers are the perfect item to make into bunting.Why?Because they will look like a washing line of knickers(reminds me of the old intro to Coronation Street). With added royal emblems on them they add a hint of silliness and an alternative decoration to the future festivities. You will receive- 20 bloomer images on paper.Each image has ER and crown emblems. 10x 11" wooden sticks to make flags with. 2m of twine to make bunting with. The 20 bloomers shoud be enough to make 2m of bunting and 10 flags. Just decorate the images as you wish, paint them, colour them in, add glitter etc, then cut them out.Follow the straight lines at the top and wrap it round the stick or twine using glue, double sided tape etc This kit makes a great way for kids to spend a couple of hours and at the end of it they have Jubilee decorations for them to celebrate with.
