This cushion is a great way of doing just that and because I sew over the drawings in bright sewing threads they resist fading and become an heirloom item. Customers have made these as gifts for grandparents mainly but I did have one customer order 10 as Christmas presents using different drawings for most of her friends and family! The price given is a cushion made from a drawing similar to the ones on the photos. These drawings include a number of figures and writing and take a long time to do. The very first one I made was for a wedding gift for my very good friend Kirsty. Inspired by her beautiful handmade wedding invitation and some transferrable fabric sheets I made them a beautiful customised cusion featuring the image from their invitation. I now use Inkjet Fabric Sheets as they produce much better quality images. I have made these using photographs of pets as well as people for 18th and other momentous birthdays, for Christmas gifts, for a great Grandmother suffering from alzheimers to list a few. But he just didn't look right! With design input from Jessica, my then 4 year old daughter, I handstitched a face, a superhero mask, a waistcoat, and boots using felted knitwear, fleece and felt to give him a superhero relaxing at home look. I then whipstitched around the edges with thick white cotton thread. He is filled with polyfill. He is 23 cm (9 inches) tall and is 17 cm (7.5 inches) at his widest part. The four-patch centre squares in each block are made with delicate co-ordinating florals, hearts and stripes with the same striped fabric used as the backing. It measures 113 x 93cm (40.5 x 36.5 inches) making it ideal as a playmat, a lap quilt or a topper for a single bed. The lightweight polyester wadding means that you can roll or fold it up and take it to the park or when visiting friends. Memory quilts can take longer to make due to the preparation of the squares and then backing each square with cotton so they the stretch fabrics don't stretch and distort. You will need to post me approximately 14 - 15 items of clothing to ensure a good mix especially if they are baby clothes. The bigger the clothing the less I need unless you want the finished quilt to have a lot of variety. Prices vary depending on the size of the quilt and number of pictures used.
