Game of Thrones inspired fridge magnet

Inspired by Game of Thrones, this is a fridge magnet of a shield bearing the sigil of House Lannister - a golden lion on a field of crimson.

I made the original carving in plaster and then made my own mould and cast this in durable polyurethene resin before fixing a magnet to the reverse.

The lion is raised and the magnet has been painted by hand to give a slightly worn and historical look. It is then coated with knock resistant lacquer.

Please note, this is inspired by Game of Thrones and should not be considered official merchandise in any way.

Gelert Plaque

A must-have for dog lovers, lovers of history or celtic art.

In Wales, long ago, lived a prince called Llywelyn. He had a faithful hound named Gelert and they were inseperable.

One day when Llywelyn was hunting, Gelert went missing, and Llywelyn returned home alone.

He found Gelert there: limping, panting; his jaws dripping with blood. And in the far corner of the room the cradle of Llywelyn’s baby son was overturned and empty; the baby’s coverings shredded and torn; the floor smeared with fresh blood.

Grimly, Prince Llywelyn drew his sword and plunged it into the treacherous hound who had killed his small boy.

But Gelert’s dying cry was answered by the cry of a child. Llywelyn searched and found his son, alive and unharmed, hidden by the cradle. At the side, slain by Gelert in a fierce struggle to protect the baby, lay the body of a mighty wolf.

The sad prince buried Gelert by the River Glaslyn, and the village which grew up around it took its name from the grave of Gelert – Bedd Gelert in Welsh – and in the long years after Gelert’s death Prince Llywelyn is said never to have smiled again.

Honour Gelert's fidelity and bravery with this wonderful celtic plaque. Measuring 28cm x 9cm (11 x 3.5in), it can be displayed in a variety of ways:

Why not stick it on a door, internal or external (it is completely weatherproof), or display it on a shelf. Silver or gold versions available, or simply primed to paint in your own colour choice

Bring some magic and enchantment into your home with this lovely Fairy Door!

Fairy doors are miniature portals to middle-earth. By installing one in your home or garden you will be inviting fairies, pixies, gnomes and all other wee folk from their world to yours.

This door is lovingly sculpted, moulded, cast and painted by hand. It is made from resin so is durable and weatherproof, therefore suitable for outdoor use. You’ll be enchanted by the attention to detail, including a giant sunflower, trailing lobelia, a ladybird, toadstools, ivy, primulas and forget-me-nots. There are even cold enamelled window panes and a little keyhole for the fairy’s key!
Remember though, fairy doors are magical, and won’t open for big people.

Place it against a wall or skirting board in your home or in a shady spot in the garden to entice the fairies to come and visit you, bringing their gifts of magic and luck.

Enamelled Celtic Belt Buckle

Lovely pewter belt buckle handmade and cast in lead free pewter. It measures approximately 7.5cm (3in) across and is suitable for any standard 1.5in snap-belt (not included)

The buckle depicts a celtic design of two intertwined dogs.

The photos show buckles with purple, red, green & yellow and black cold enamelling, though any colour (or combination of three) is available. Contact me or attach a PayPal note with your order to discuss your colour preferences.

Comes in a gift box

Please be aware that it will take a day or two to personalize your buckle ready to ship.

How it's made

I first carved a master from a plaster of paris. A two-part silicone mould was made. Lead-free pewter is melted and poured into the mould. The finished casting is filed and buffed and then a loop and horn fixed to the reverse. Parts of the buckle are painted with acrylic and then finally a clear epoxy enamelling resin is laboriously added over the paint using a cocktail stick! Once the resin has cured overnight the buckle is finished.

Hobbit Hole Fairy Door

In a hole in the ground there lived a hobbit.

Inspired by the works of J.R.R. Tolkien, this is a lovely little resin Fairy Door ornament measuring 15 x 8 x 8cm (6 x 3 x 3 inches)

Fairy doors are miniature portals to middle-earth. By putting one in your home or garden you will be inviting fairies, pixies, gnomes and all other wee folk from their world to yours, bringing their gifts of magic and luck.

This door is lovingly sculpted, moulded, cast and painted by hand. You’ll be enchanted by the attention to detail, right down to the grass coming up through the cracks in the paving!

Signed on the bottom.

Remember though, fairy doors are magical, and won’t open for big people.

Please note - this is only inspired by the Hobbit and should not be considered official merchandise in any way.

Speak Friend and Enter Sign

Pedo mellon a minno in Elvish.

This was part of the inscription on the Door to Moria in the Tolkien classic Lord of the Rings

I have taken this elvish inscription and fashioned a plaque/door sign from it.

The lightweight polyurethene plaque has a faux rock texture and handpainted colouring and the elvish script is picked out in a mixture of silver, white and electric blue.

Speak Friend And Enter - an ideal sign to hang outside a child's room for example.

The plaque measures 21 x 12.5 cm (8.5 x 5in), is suitable for outdoor use, and has picture wire embedded in the reverse for ease of hanging. Although if you dont have a picture hook, it can be fixed permanently with sticky pads or double sided tape.

Please note, this piece is inspired by the work of Tolkien and should not be considered official merchandise in any way.

How it's made

The original plaque took a week to carve out of plaster of paris

A glove mould was made from silicone rubber and the original discarded.

Aluminium powder is mixed with polyester gelcoat resin and this is painted onto the inside of the mould

A loop of picture wire is inserted at this point.

Because polyester is quite brittle, polyurethene resin is poured to fill the mould and lock the hanging loop in place

When cured the plaque is rubbed with wire wool to expose and polish the aluminium.

Finally, the plaque is polished with graphite, giving an antique pewter look.

Golden Celtic Tealight Holder

A beautifully stylish tealight holder featuring golden pictish/celtic knotwork on four sides.

Measing approximately 6cm x 6cm x 6m, each holder weighs a sturdy 200g, has a felt base to protect your surfaces and comes with a free unscented tealight for your convenience.

The tealight itself is gloss black, and the raised celtic designs are handpainted in golden acrylic and laquered. Custom colourways are available - just message me with your requirements.

Never leave your tealights burning unattended and always use candles in trays like the one provided.

How it's made
I carved the basic tealight holder from plaster of paris.
A silicone mould and plaster support shell was made and a polyester resin copy made in the mould.

I then carved the celtic design from plaster and made a further mould.

4 identical designs were cast in this mould and glued to the resin tealight holder.

A further and final silicone and plaster mould was made of the finished master.

Then polyester pigment is mixed with resin and poured into the mould.

Once this has cured, the tealight is popped from the mould and the desgin is painted by hand.

A small square of adhesive backed felt is cut to size and affixed to the base.

Finally, the holder is tested by burning a tealight for 4 hours.

Enamelled Celtic Belt Buckle

Lovely pewter belt buckle handmade and cast in lead free pewter. It measures approximately 7.5cm (3in) across and is suitable for any standard 1.5in snap-belt (not included)

The photos show buckles with red, purple and black cold enamelling, though any colour is available. Contact me or attach a PayPal note with your colour preferences

Serge Gainsbourg coaster

A little piece of geek chic

Everyone knows of the French singer, songwriter, actor, writer and producer Serge Gainsbourg and his influence on popular music (if not for his relationships and duets with Brigitte Bardot and Jane Birkin!)

From his jazzy beginnings to his later reggae influenced work, Gainsbourg was most well known for his clever and witty lyrics.
On his death, French President François Mitterrand said of him, "He was our Baudelaire, our Apollinaire... He elevated the song to the level of art"

This listing is for an individual glass drinks coaster featuring an acid etched silhouette of the iconic man. It measures 9cm x 9cm and has four rubber non-slip feet to protect your surfaces.

Perfect for any fan of the great man, Francophile or cool cat!

Enamelled Celtic Belt Buckle

Lovely pewter belt buckle handmade and cast in lead free pewter. It measures approximately 7.5cm (3in) across and is suitable for any standard 1.5in snap-belt (not included)

The photos show buckles with purple, red and black cold enamelling, though any colour is available. Contact me or attach a PayPal note with your colour preferences*

Comes in a gift box

*Please be aware that it will take a day or two to personalize your buckle ready to ship.

Red Rose Brooch

An eyecatching brass and red enamel art nouveau brooch measuring approximately 6m x 5cm,

Various colours and finishes are available as well as bronze, copper, and alumninium coldcatings.

Comes with a brooch pin secured to the reverse and presented in a gift box

How it's made

Inspired by Charles Rennie Mackintosh's roses, I designed and carved the brooch design from plaster.

A rubber mould was made and the carving destroyed to ensure only a limited number of brooches can be created before the mould degrades.

Brass powder was mixed with polyester resin and poured into the mould.

Once cured, parts of the brooch are painted and then covered with a clear epoxy enamelling resin
After curing overnight a bar pin is secured to the reverse.

Decorate Your Own Christmas Fairy Door Kit

An activity for now and a decoration for a lifetime

The perfect present for creative kids (or festive minded adults!) - all they need to create a magical fairy door for Christmas.

The kit includes 12 acrylic paints, a brush, a small bag of white glitter and a resin fairy door primed ready for painting.

You'll be delighted at the detail in the door - everything is there: a Christmas tree with garlands, baubles and candy canes. There are even presents under the tree for the fairy to open on Christmas morning.
The door has mistletoe hanging above it for fairy kisses, a holly wreath with a bow, and of course a stocking. Beside the door stands a snowman in hat and scarf complete with broken carrot nose.
The snowy rooftop is topped by a pretty little robin, and if you look closely you will even see his foorprints in the snow!

Acrylic paints are safe to use, but not washable when dry, so always supervise children using these kits.

How it's made

I modelled the door from clay and then made a silicone mould and a fiberglass support shell. Resin is mixed and poured into the mould. When cured, the model is primed ready for painting.
