Green Trio - handmade sea glass and sterling silver necklace - SRAJD FHF

Handmade from genuine sea glass in shades of opaque green which I have collected from Cornish beaches, mounted onto sterling silver tube & supported by a sterling silver snake chain. Carefully flared ends on the tubing stop the sea glass beads from being removed but allow the pieces of glass to move freely.

By the nature of the sea glass, no two pieces will ever be quite alike. Every piece of sea glass jewellery I make will be subtly different and unique. No dyes, tumblers, etching fluid, this sea glass is as found on the beach, except for cleaning and drilling so that it can be made into jewellery. The frosting and small inclusions are a result of 50-100 years of being swept amongst sand and stones, a little piece of history from Mother Nature!

A very tactile piece of jewellery that will take on a patina when worn, from the natural oils in your skin. If you'd rather just keep the frosted look, then a quick wash in warm soapy water sorts that, similarly a quick wipe with mineral oil will bring out the colour of the glass.

The pendant is approx. 24mm / 0.9" wide and hangs from a 16 inch / 40cms sterling silver chain with lobster clasp fitting.

Gift boxed in a professionally printed Blue Box Studio box, with care instructions and information about the history of sea glass in general, this item is ready for giving, or as a present for yourself.

If you need a different length chain, just let me know, I usually have some in stock .

Sea Swirl - genuine English white green sea glass and silver necklace - sale

Handmade from a stack of white and green genuine sea glass which I have collected from Cornish beaches in the South West peninsular of England, simply mounted on sterling silver.

The pendant is approx. 50mm long including the sterling silver bail. This hangs from an approximately 18 inch / 45cms sterling silver chain with bolt ring clasp fitting. There are 5 beautiful pieces of this sea glassglass; all carefully hand drilled and mounted on my handmade swirl mounts.

This item comes with care instructions and information about the history of sea glass in general, in an organza bag so ready for giving, or as a present for yourself.

Each one of my sea glass necklaces is made from carefully selected pieces of genuine sea glass, collected from around the British coastline. By the nature of the sea glass, no two pieces will ever be quite alike. Every piece of sea glass jewellery I make will be subtly different and unique.

All sea glass will be 50-100 years old, it takes that long to be tumbled by the movement of the waves and sand to become the treasures we find today.

No dyes, tumblers, etching fluid, this genuine sea glass is as found on the beach, except for cleaning and drilling so that it can be made into jewellery.

If you need a shorter chain, just let me know, I usually have some in stock (or can obtain at a few days notice).

Moon & Stars - handmade silk velvet devore scarf in black & silver grey - sale

Another gorgeous scarf from Blue Box Studio - this is a lovely item and will be a really useful addition to any wardrobe.

This scarf is silver grey on black - but that doesn't make it dull! Hand devored to my own design with a moon and starts (or circles and stars if you prefer) left in velvet.

Devore is the technique where by the velvet pile is burnt out to give a shadowy textured feel and look to the fabric.

Handmade from 18% silk, 82% viscose fabric this scarf has been hand printed to my own design and hand dyed using my own blend of dyes. The velvet is beautifully soft and very fluid and the light catches the shimmering pile from every angle.

Size: approximately 142cms x 29cms (56ins x 11.5 ins). This scarf is a useful length but looks great just draped round your shoulders with a jacket.

A very warming item, sure to keep the chilly winds at bay in winter.

Hand wash or dry clean, this easy care scarf is versatile enough to see you through summer, autumn and winter and comes with full easy care instructions.

In my sale to make way for new work and designs.

Silk Viscose velvet hand screen printed and dyed scarf - green stripes - Sale

Created from 18% silk / 82% viscose high quality white velvet, this scarf has first been dyed green and then screen printed over with my own random stripe design, inspired by the reeds on the Somerset Levels near my home, with a decolourant which removes the green colour leaving a mellow yellow cream pattern. The stripes run downwards at the ends of the scarf, and across the width in the middle.

The velvet used in this scarf is high quality and very soft. Just the thing to snuggle into on a cold day.

Double sided, this scarf measures approximately 50 inches x 7inches 127cms x 18cms.

Hand wash or dry clean, this easy care scarf will warm up a cold winters day.

Because of the techniques used when making my scarves, no two will be identical. You are buying a wearable piece of art - handmade in my North Somerset garden studio, inspired by nature, music, sights and sounds.

To make way for new stock I have reduced the price of this scarf - normally £37.50, on sale for £25.00.

Neptune's secret - sea glass pendant and choker - SRA FHF

Sea glass is also often called 'Neptune's jewels' - this piece is a cube shaped filigree locket filled with small pieces of genuine English sea glass in shades of blue and white.

The locket and bail are silver plated, the choker is made from black wire with a plated screw fastening.

This is a very pretty piece, a reminder of the seaside, a little piece of history - most genuine sea glass is 50-100 years old, it takes that long for Mother Nature to weaver her magic on these pieces. These pieces of sea glass were personally collected from Cornish beaches; they are exacly as found - no drills, no tumblers - no sandblasting, just perfect smooth frosted pieces of genuine English sea glass.

The pendant, from top of bail to bottom of locket is approx 46mm / 1.8". The black wire choker is approx 18 / 45cms long.

I have only a few of these pretty necklaces, all different, left from my Winter fairs so am offering them here to make way for new work in the Spring.

Victorian Blue - genuine English sea glass, crystal and silver necklace - sale

Something blue ... Genuine English sea glass is getting harder to find, genuine blue English sea glass is rarer still. Most sea glass will be 50-100 years old, blue is invariably Victorian, from a time when blue bottles for medecines and poisons were common.

This is a small piece of genuine blue English sea glass, from Cornwall. Mounted with blue Swarovski crystals on sterling silver, hung from a sterling silver bail and chain.

My sea glass items come with some general information on the history of sea glass. All my sea glass is genuine, no dyes or tumblers, personally collected from beaches discovered on my travels. It is as found, except for drilling to make into beads for my jewellery. No 2 pieces of sea glass will be exactly the same, no two pieces of my jewellery will be the same either.

The pendant is approximately 32mm long, that's just over 1.25 inches in old money. The sterling silver chain is 18 inches long / 45cms approx. If you prefer a shorter chain please get in touch, I often have some available.

This piece will be supplied in an organza bag and boxed for safe delivery through the ravages of the postal system.

Crystal diamante button on metal shank

More from the back of the cupboard at Blue Box Studio.

I collected a lot of buttons for bag making but haven't had time to use them. All of them are as new, locked away in the dark, waiting for someone to love them enough.

This is a 25mm (about 1 inch) crystal diamante button set on a metal shank base. The outer two rows of diamante are stepped, with the central stone being level with the inner ring.

Each diamante crystal is faceted. Really beautiful, this really sparkles in the light.

Purple tiger - handmade purple silk velvet devore scarf with random stripes

I love this fabric, it remind me of a tiger print, in soft fluid devore silk velvet.

Devore is the technique where by the velvet top fabric is burnt out to give a shadowy textured feel and look to the fabric.

Handmade from 18% silk, 82% viscose fabric using my own blend of dyes, this scarf has been double dyed with a purple silk background and shimmering darker purple viscose velvet design. The fabric is very soft and fluid and the light catches the shimmering velvet from every angle.

Size: approximately 173cms x 34cms (68ins x 13.5 ins).

Long enough to wear as a wrap, a useful length. The colour is pretty enough to warm even the coldest of days.

This easy care scarf is versatile enough to see you through summer, autumn and winter and comes with full care instructions. It would make an ideal present for your friends, or yourself!

This scarf is normally £24.95 but reduced to make way for new work.

Handmade lampwork glass beads - 10 orphan neutral pink

Handmade lampwork glass beads made in my North Somerset studio.

Over the last year I have amassed a lot of single or 'orphan' beads - experiments, left over from other projects, lost ideas. They are all perfect and ideal for adding to stock, using as inspiration or using in projects, one or many. The box is now full and the beads need new homes so I am offering them for sale in mixed bags. All at a tempting price that covers my costs of glass, annealling and time but for less than I would normally sell my beads. I need the room!

All my beads are individually made using glass from Murano Italy, the US, Germany, China and elsewhere. Many are decorated using silver rich glass, silver enhanced glass, fine silver wire or sheet or frit (crushed glass). Some are shaped with ridges, some pressed flat, most are round. All are annealed in a digital kiln for strength, cleaned and checked before sale.

In this set there are 10 beautiful 'orphan' beads in neutral taupe shades - with accents in coloured frit, spots, reactive glass, swirls, ribbing and pixie dust. They have been made on a mix of 2.4mm and 3.2mm mandrels and range in size from approx 10-15 mm diameter.

Beads will be supplied boxed to protect them from the ravages of the postal system. The mandrel is for display and not included in the sale.

Make your own masterpiece in your microwave. No microwave? Just let me know and I'll enclose details of how to create a sensation in your steamer!

My kits are an easy introduction to the technique of Shibori Dyeing on silk, are great fun and make ideal presents as they are easy to post. The gift that goes on giving - have the fun of making and then the fun of wearing too! No previous experience is required.
Made to my own design and using the same dyes and materials used in my own work, each kit includes

- a pure silk scarf in Ponge 5 silk, minimum 28 x 114cms (may not be by Arty's)
- a silk test piece for you to practice on
- 3 x 50ml bottles of dye (enough for several scarves) in your chosen colourway which can be fixed in a microwave
- pipettes to remove the dye from the bottles

You just need to provide the plastic gloves, microwaveable dish (plastic take-away containers are good for this) and the belief that you really can create your own original masterpiece.

The kit comes with a handy carrier bag, either to use as presentation if giving this as a gift, or just for keeping everything together in one place.

These very concentrated dyes can be blended or diluted to increase the range of colours available.

Rainbow stripes silk velvet hand screened & coloured scarf

Created from 18% silk / 82% viscose high quality black velvet, this scarf has been hand screen printed to my own design before being hand painted with my own hand blended dyes in a myriad of colours.

Double sided, this long scarf measures approximately 60 inches x 8.75 inches [152cms x 22cms].

Hand wash or dry clean, this easy care scarf will warm up a cold winters day. The velvet is wonderfully soft and drapes beautifully.

I design my screens to be used only a couple of times. Although there may be similar scarves in my collection, because of the way the screen is used or the dyes are blended, no two will be identical.

Mounted on a silver plated 'add a pendant' fitting with silver plated beads and rings, strung from a 17" (approx) mustard yellow choker necklace with screw clasp to match the colours in the pendant. Other colours of choker may be available if you would prefer, just ask. The pendant is 'lentil' shaped (flattened round).

This necklace will be supplied gift boxed, ready for giving or keeping safe.

Well, darn if this isn't (in my opinion) the prettiest of these necklaces then the photo shows up a little pitting on one side and chill marks. I should have gone to Specsavers (err, I did!). So I'll be selling this one for a little less than the rest. It really isn't that noticeable and is very pretty but if someone would like a bargain, this is the one for you.

A duo of recycled fabrics - destash remnant sale

In this due of beautiful recycled fabrics I have:

2 pieces of rust velour - cut from the hems of new curtains - 114cms wide x 51cms long

1 piece of recycled upholstery fabric - there might be the odd tacking thread running through this piece, it was given to me by an upholsterer who had cut the wrong size! It is 80cms deep and , being an odd shape, 85cms minimum, 142cms maximum width.

Both are lovely fabrics suitable for making totes and bags. I can't confirm the fabric composition, I would think the velour is cotton but might be a poly cotton.

Space needed in my studio to make way for other projects.

Handmade lampwork glass charm bead - fits Troll - SRA FHF

All my lampwork glass beads are individually hand made by myself in my garden studio in North Somerset, England using a propane and oxygen mix torch. They are annealed in a digitally controlled kiln for strength and durability then carefully cleaned and checked before being offered for sale.

Because my beads are individually made, no two will ever be the same, you are buying an individual piece of work from a British artisan, not a mass produced and much copied product. My beads are made from the highest quality glass and materials including glass from Murano Italy and around the world. Additional detail is sometimes added using frits (crushed glass) or murrini (canes) as well as fine (99% pure) silver wire and leaf. I use a variety of techniques to create unique items which I hope you will want to add to your bead collection.

This bead, on a core of soft cream-green glass, wrapped and swirled in silver rich glass, which reacts with the flame to give a variety of shades, measures approximately 17.5mm diameter, 13mm thickness and is filled with sterling silver tubing, which I have hand cut and fitted by hand using a professional press, then hand polished to give a perfect-fitting core.

The internal diameter of the core is approximately 4mm so will fit the smaller sizes of popular European add a bead bracelet systems that are currently worn including Troll. It would also look lovely just on a chain, ribbon or leather thonging.

I recommend you check the diameter of your bracelet for fit and the size of the bead to ensure it will suit your collection. The photographs are shown larger than real-life to show the detail and colour of the bead.

Please note the chain shown is for illustration only and NOT included in the sale.

Beads will be supplied boxed to ensure they survive the ravages of the postal system and arrive with you in perfect condition.

Blue on blue - genuine end of day sea glass necklace from English shores

This sea glass was personally hand picked from beaches in the North of England, where the glass works closed in the 1930s It is a beautiful piece of sea glass and rare to find one in this beautiful blue colour and of this size. And getting rarer!

The sterling silver chain is approximately 16 inches long (about 40cms) and has a bolt ring clasp. The pretty End of Day sea glass pendant is in shades of blue. The colour is banded through the sea glass piece. This is the beauty of End of Day sea glass, sometimes the colour runs all the way through, sometimes only part - it all depends what the maker was orignally making with the left overs, and which bit of that item you have. In this case it is blue on top of blue, on top of blue.

The pendant is approximately 1.5" long and 1" wide including the silver plated bail. Together they complement each other to make a very pretty necklace. Boxed, ready for giving.

'End of day' glass is glass that was used by the workers at the end of the day to make items in their own time. Sometimes it was also pieces of glass that the glass workers dumped at the end of the day. Over time this has found its way into the sea and been washed, frosted and smoothed by the movement of the waves on sand and stones to make these rare gems. End of Day glass is also known as multi or multicoloured glass because it is made up of several colours. Although more common in some areas than others, pieces like this are rare and treasured. The colour and shape of this piece are as found on the beach; I have only mounted for you to enjoy. No dyes, no tumblers, no drills; just beautiful English sea glass shaped by Mother Nature.

There are enough here for a pretty necklace or bracelet.

Beads have been made with 2.4mm holes and range from 11-16mm in diameter.

These beads have been annealed in a digitally controlled kiln for strength and durability then hand cleaned to remove any traces of the powdery bead release.

Beads will be supplied boxed to protect them from the ravages of the postal system.

Blue spot - genuine end of day sea glass necklace from English shores

A really pretty necklace and an ideal gift. This sea glass was personally hand picked from beaches in the North of England, where the glass works closed in the 1930s. It is a beautiful piece of sea glass and rare to find one in this colour. And getting rarer! It is very unusual.

If you want to bring out the colour of the glass with a 'wet look', a quick wipe of mineral oil will bring out the colour. To return to the frosted look, just give a quick wash in warm soapy water. I've left this pendant frosted, this is its natural state.

The sterling silver chain is approximately 16 inches long (about 40cms) and has a bolt ring clasp.

The pretty End of Day sea glass pendant is in shades of blue. The colour is banded through the top part of the pendant, with a darker circle in the middle. The back of the pendant is white glass. This is the beauty of End of Day sea glass, sometimes the colour runs all the way through, sometimes only part - it all depends what the maker was orignally making with the left overs, and which bit of that item you have. There is a tiny smooth but unfrosted spot on one side, this is not a flaw, but a natural inclusion from years of being buffeted by waves against sand and rocks.

The pendant is just under 1" long and just under 1/2" wide including the silver plated bail. Together they complement each other to make a very pretty necklace. Boxed, ready for giving.

Green and white - genuine end of day sea glass necklace from English shores

A really pretty necklace and an ideal gift. Winter or summer this little piece of history - this sea glass was personally hand picked from beaches in the North of England, where the glass works closed in the 1930s - will enhance any outfit. It is a beautiful piece of sea glass and rare to find one in this colour and size. And getting rarer! A very unusual piece.

The sterling silver chain is approximately 16 inches long (about 40cms) and has a bolt ring clasp. The pretty End of Day sea glass pendant is in shades of green. The colour is banded through the top half of the sea glass piece with the back being clear glass. This is the beauty of End of Day sea glass, sometimes the colour runs all the way through, sometimes only part - it all depends what the maker was orignally making with the left overs, and which bit of that item you have.

The pendant is approximately 1.25" long and 0.6" wide including the silver plated bail. Together they complement each other to make a very pretty necklace. Boxed, ready for giving.

Jazzy black - handmade lampwork bead and sterling silver necklace

These beads have been handmade in my North Somerset studio using a propane and oxygen mix torch. They have been kiln annealled for strength and durability and carefully cleaned of 'bead release' before being used.

These 3 beads have been made using a base of black glass, then wrapped in brightly coloured frit (crushed glass). They are mounted on a sterling silver snake chain which is approx. 18 inches or 45cms long.

If you need a different length chain, let me know as I often have other chains available or can obtain at a few days notice.

This necklace will be gift boxed, to protect it from the ravages of the postal service, and would make a wonderful gift for friends, family or even yourself. A simple but pretty necklace, this would look good with everything from jeans and t-shirt to a Little Black Dress.

Sea foam green - Genuine sea glass, crystal and sterling silver necklace

Handmade from a beautiful piece of sea foam green genuine sea glass which I have collected from Cornish beaches in the South West peninsular of England, accented with genuine Swarovski crystals and sterling silver.

The pendant is approx. 25mm long including the sterling silver bail. This hangs from a 18 inch / 45cms sterling silver chain with bolt ring clasp fitting.

Gift boxed in a professionally printed Blue Box Studio box, with care instructions and information about the history of sea glass in general, this item is ready for giving, or as a present for yourself.

If you need a different length chain, just let me know, I usually have some in stock (or can obtain at a few days notice).
