Folksy : Amy's art

I have a selection of paintings in Acrylic and Watercolour, they are mostly based up landscapes and most recently, animals. I love using different colours, and painting in an Abstract style. I am influenced by the colours that Peter Lanyon (in particular) uses.

I like to use watercolour because of its fluidity, and shapes it creates when applied to paper. :)

Beautiful, original water colour painting of Brighton West pier, with ink.

This is a lovely water colour painting by myself. It is an interpretation of Brighton West Pier. For those of you that are familiar with Brighton pier, it creates a lovely sillhouete shape against the landscape. I wanted to emphasize this by using ink in my painting. This is a photograph of the west pier http://www.arthurlloyd.co.uk/Brighton/WestPier04C.jpg It was completely destroyed by fire in 2003.

I incorporated lots of pattern and colour into the sea, in place of where the pebbles would have been. I used lighter tones of watercolour paint, with darker tones applied on top to give a three dimensional perspective. I like shape to feature in my paintings, and I emphasized this by using the ink to enhance different shapes in the piece. I love how the colours in the sky blend in to one another. I used a pointed brush on its side for the sky to create quite defined rectangular and square shapes. I made these shapes darker in tone, so the sky features alot of different shapes and tones. I also used the ink to include the pole shapes in the painting. These poles are still on Brighton beach, they are the foundations to what would have originally been the walk way across to the pier.

This painting is approximately 38cm in length and 30cm in height. It will come unframed, but signed and dated. This is a great investment, and amazing price for a piece of art. Very good quality, painted on quality watercolour paper.

Ginger cat

A gorgeous abstract painting of my ginger cat whilst he was sleeping :) The painting is completely unique. The colours blend into one another beautifully with a complimentary range of pink, orange and yellow. I have used charcoal to create a loose effect. I think this reflects the body of the cat whilst he was relaxed and laid out on my bed!

The painting is on good quality water colour paper, it is 37 cm in length x 29cm in height. The painting will come mounted but unframed!
