This is an original lino print, one of just eight in this paper and colour combination. I meticulously cut my design into the blocks of lino, one for each of the three colours used. These blocks were then carefully inked up with oil-based inks and printed one on top of the other with a day or two drying time in between each. The paper is 280g Hahnmeuhle Etching Paper, which is beautifully soft and pliable. It has really taken up the relief of the design and accentuates the urchin’s nodules. The embossing around the urchin test represents its lost spines. The print size is approximately 24x24cm. The husks were cut from a vintage card map, hand tinted with inks and watercolour paints and then applied to the print with japanese rice paste glue. This print is supplied with am off white mount cut to fit a 30x24cm frame (FRAME NOT INCLUDED). These items are hand-printed and so vary slightly depending on ink density, character of the paper, pressure of the press and the way the wind blows (ok, maybe not the last bit).
