this creature is known as a “pencil pocket”. it is not designed to replace the traditional pencil case, but to compliment it.

your pencil pocket is there to keep a few (3/4/5) pens and pencils cosy, to help them avoid the trauma of rolling around in the bottom of your bag.

“pencil pockets” are great at travelling as they don’t take up as much room as their more usual pencil case siblings. but they’re not so good at looking after rubbers or sharpeners. they know their limits.
