Item details

A handmade Hex Sign suitable for indoor use. Painted on birch wood from the local area the sign is sealed to preserve the design. The piece comes with suede strapping and so is easy to hang. The design features a rosette, the oldest symbol and the colours symbolise health and strength.

All designs are one of a kind and painted by myself. Look out for my other designs in my shop.

The sign has a 7.8cm diameter and is 23.5cm long when hung.

Traditionally found on the Barns of the Pennsylvanian Dutch, Hex Signs were used to bring colour and magic. There was deep symbolism in the shapes and colours used in the signs. Inspired by this I have created my own collection of Hex signs, incorporating the original tradition and updated in light of meaning in our own culture. Perhaps the grey barns of yesteryear are the whitewashed rented flats of today. Everyone needs a bit of colour in their lives!
