Flannel and soap in one or 'soap in a coat'!

These lovely handmade natural soaps are paraben, SLS and SLES free, traditionally made retaining all the naturally occurring glycerine and so suitable for and kind to even sensitive skins.

The soap is wrapped in lovely soft 100% merino wool, which acts like a gentle flannel exfoliating the skin when it is used. Wool is also anti fungal and has anti bacterial properties. The felt will continue shrinking down to the size of the soap as it is used, as will the design. You will be left eventually with a small 'pouch' of felt which is nice filled with lavender or dried rose petals and popped in a drawer or suitcase as a freshener.

Use the soap as you would normally, it will lather up quite quickly under hot water, but it won't annoyingly slip from your hands! It stores best on a soap rack, but is fine just left on the side too and won't leave any sticky residue behind.

The soaps I use for felting are 'misshapen' soap which are not uniform enough to be sold but are ideal for wrapping in felt, and you can scent them with a few drops of your favorite essential oil if you wish.

Historically the more expensive soaps would be wrapped in wool to distinguish them from the lower quality soap and to make them last longer, which it certainly does!

I loved wrapping soap in wool! I was inspired to needle felt designs on the soap because I am fascinated by the way the wool shrinks down with the soap and wanted to see the the design become smaller too. The shape of the soap, because it is non uniform, often lends itself to or inspires a particular design.
