A cloisonne enamelled silverbrooch showing a Kingfisher sitting on a branch and watching the water for movement. He is near some reeds where the little fishes like to hide and he is in no hurry as he knows he can move faster than they can. His beautiful plumage of golden orange. kingfisher blue and green is depicted using transparent enamels. The background of pale blue enamel shows the gentle gleam of the fine silver beneath and the enamel jewel is securely mounted in an oval sterling frame with a double tension locking stainless steel brooch pin for security.
The brooch is 5.2cm wide and 3cm tall and will come carefrully wrapped in tissue paper and in a beautiful monochrome box with instructions on how to care for your enamel.

This piece took many hours to make. The design was first drawn in pencil and then the cloisonne wires were carefully shaped and fired onto the oval base on its third firing. The powdered glass colours were carefully washed in purified water to give them clarity. the glass was then 'wet packed' into the cells or cloisonnes and fired in the kiln many times as the colours were merged and built up in the cells. When the cells were full the surface of the piece was 'stoned back' under running water to even out the surface and to grind down the excess wires. The piece was fired again to give a glossy finish. The frame was then cut soldered, and constructed to fit this piece.
