Hand painted scarf with pink butterflies.
The silk is stretched and painted. It is then decorated using a combination of techniques including gutta, salt and paint. This scarf was created using a gutter technique, hand painted by Ally Tate.

As an artist I enjoy working with different media. I discovered silk painting accidentally and quickly got hooked. I started working on smaller pieces there was logic in trying to do more practical things and eventually made the leap to what I like to think of as wearable art.
