Handcrafted Hazy Blue, Frost and Black Polymer Clay Beads - Cathy
Description
A set of 5 lentil shaped polymer clay beads, created by myself, by hand. A mixture of blue, black, and frost. The frost clay creates subtle flecks and superficial tiny cracks, just like you would see in real frost. It also creates the illusion of depth.
These beads are part of a limited design range called Cathy, as there appeared to be something a bit 'Wuthering Heights' about them. I only make one batch of each design, so there is only a limited amount of stock.
The patterns on the clay have been produced very organically so each side of the bead has a different pattern, and no two beads are the same.
Making the beads is time consuming, these beads involved taking the end of a reduced patterned cane, and slicing it length ways. The slices were then rolled out, and circles cut. A circle is then placed on each side of the polymer bead to cover it. Once it is ensured that all the air has been released it is shaped by hand. A needle tool is then used to create the hole. The beads are then cured in the oven.
When cured each bead is hand sanded 2-3 times, to ensure a nice smooth quality.
These beads have also been waxed and polished. They have a soft natural sheen, not a gloss.
Each bead weighs approx 2-3 g.
Each bead has a width of approx 17mm - 18mm.
Each bead has a 2mm hole.
