Description

....The silver sixpence represents wealth and financial security. A sixpence is a coin that was minted in Britain from 1551 to 1967. It was made of silver and worth six pennies. Many sources say this tradition began in the Victorian era.

We have all heard:

something old,
something new,
something borrowed,
something blue,
and a silver sixpence in her shoe..............

.........this little proverb may also date back to a Scottish custom of a groom putting a silver coin under his foot for good luck. For optimum fortune, the sixpence should be in the left shoe.

These are genuine British Silver sixpences. The story of the sixpence is included with the order, so the recipient can also read the history. This is a super present to a groom before his wedding day. The sixpence can be removed to be carried by the groom on his big day and replaced and kept as a keepsake after wards.

Packed nicely in a cello bag and packaged safely for it's journey to you.

This tag has been hand made, stamped in silver ink, with a hand carved lino, design based on a piece of lace.

Coin is attached inside a silver organza bag.
