Each card in this range (Bessie Friends) starts off with a character illustration in black ink, which I then scan in and add colour digitally before printing onto photopaper, mounting onto white 200gsm card and adding the finishing touches with glitter and fabric pens by hand. Each card is 150mm (h) x 100mm (w) with a white C6 envelope, sealed in a cello packet.

The back of every card in this range has instructions dedicated to each character from baking cookies with Dot to DJing with Dan!

He is my take on the cheeky character from from Julia Donaldson’s story ‘Freddie and the Fairy’ but soon tumbled out of the book and into my cards.

Freddie is the tearaway, cheeky little boy that you can’t help but giggle at. He loves nothing more than an adventure, and never goes anywhere without his chocolate and trusted cape, how else can he fly out of trees or fight like a pirate at sea?

Playful Freddie is often seen running around the park ‘rescuing’ Bessie, sneaking a cookie or two from Dot, laughing with Lilly or pestering Dan to play pirates with him, but is definitely the lovable character that keeps everyone entertained!
