New addition to my Shipping Forecast collection.
The Shipping Forecast was first broadcast in the 1920s its intended objective was to warn seafarers of impending storms and gales. Its solemn, rhythmic tones has inspired poems, songs, novels and artists. As familiar though the sea areas are by name, few of us give much thought to where they are.
Designed by myself and professionally printed in the UK on A3 (420 x 297mm) (actual print size is 370 x 250mm) this contemporary print plays with the words found in the shipping forecast in a modern and graphic style; printed on high quality 180gsm paper in matt finish; this print is bound to be a conversation starter.
Poster comes unframed.

Inspiration
I grew up with my parents listening to Radio 4 and remember hearing the calming tones of the Shipping Forecast, but not understanding what it meant! As I have grown up i've researched into the Shipping Forecast, it's regions and the language used, and decided to translate this information into art prints.
I thought at first I might be crazy and it would never work! But as I began designing this print I realised what a great visual image and subject it is. I have therefore decided to create a little online shop and sell these prints.
Everyone that has seen the print comments on how unusual it is and is such a great conversation starter.
