Heathery clumps nestling against the hillside form the focus for the design of this brooch, which has been hand-appliqueed and embroidered. The heather, in the foreground, is embroidered using silk ribbons. A border of crocheted braid is applied to the brooch, the colours blended to match those of the design. The oval shape is reinforced with recycled plastic from a bottle.

Felt is used to neaten the back. A brooch pin is stitched securely in place.
