A Crochet Pattern so you can make your very own tea cosy. This is my original design, devised here in the heart of happening Hackney. I've made it in basket stitch which makes a very solid structural fabric that is also double thickness and fully reversible.

The absolute beauty of basket stitch is that as you decrease it, the decrease stitches can't be obviously seen. This makes a seamless fabric from base to top with no interruption in the pattern just a slow and peaceful transition. You can tell how much I love this.

This pattern is probably for intermediate crocheters but I've tried to explain the stitches and included photographs so a patient beginner should be able to make this. The cosy is worked in basket stitch, in the round till the split for the handle and spout then each side is worked separately. The two halves are then joined and the cosy is then worked in the round and decreased.

It uses Debbie Bliss Luxury Tweed Aran. I think it should work for any Aran but I can't guarantee that.

This cosy fits a standard globe 6 cup teapot, that is 17cm high by 15cm wide, not counting spout and handle. The cosy itself is 18cm and the bottom width is 24cm.
