Scoobie pen
Description
Hand knotted scoobie pen with checkerboard pattern.
Hollow plastic scoubidou strands are woven together to create intricate patterns. This design uses black and white strands in a square weave around a ball point pen refill. The pattern alternates resulting in a checkerboard design. The ends of the white strands form tassles at the top of the pen, finished with a loose black bead.
Unfortunately, these pens are not refillable.

Inspiration
I first made these 'scoobies' when helping in a school craft club. I found them weirdly addictive and had to take mine home to finish. Before I knew it, I was trawling the internet for bags of the things and ideas for what else I could make with them.
They are very realxing to make and its amazing how the projects take on a life of their own once I start knotting, frequently ending up very different from my original idea.
