Kite Bowl
Description
This bowl measures 132mm diameter across the top by 60mm high.
It was thrown and decorated with slip, foodsafe glaze and a hand drawn decal.
There is a surface crack in the base but this is not very deep and will not affect the function or strength of the bowl. The price has been reduced from £18.
You can put it in the dishwasher although after several years, like any ceramics with decals/ transfers/ lustres, the decals will fade. Occasional dishwasher washing will be fine.
Inspiration
I throw and hand-build simple forms with earthy red earthenware clay and pour contrasting smooth white slip inside. I fire the clay high just before it is vitrified and use subtle glazes which change colour on edges and where they pool. Intricate hand drawn digitally printed transfers are fired in to the glazed surfaces and patterned decals are playfully used to create my range of ceramics. My work is about contrasts and balance; a combination of raw and refined finishes; traditional and industrial processes and creating unique handmade pieces for everyday use.
