This lovely book would make an unusual and unique Christmas present to yourself, or for someone who likes quality and individuality in things.

It feels lovely in the hand, made from a textured brown leather, sourced from a hand-made shoe maker.

This book can be a sketchbook, a journal, a drawing book or writing a novel or life history....

It is 7.5 x 6.6 ins (19cm x 17 cm approximately), and has 12 sets of 3 pages giving 72 working sides.

The paper is a lightweight smooth cartridge and is suitable for writing or drawing, and some painting.

Pen and ink, fountain pen, pencil, water-soluble graphite, coloured pencil would all be suitable on this paper and watercolour without too much soaking would be ok.

The leather is robust and firm, and the back cover wraps around to the front giving the pages a lot of protection, and this is secured with a magnet concealed behind a wooden button.

As a hand stitched book, it will lie flat without endangering the binding unlike a conventional, commercial book which would probably snap. This means a drawing can continue over two pages giving a longer proportion to the work.

It is ideal for a gap year trip, to record thoughts and experiences, and to include tickets, photos etc. several of my books have been used like this and come back stuffed with memories to keep as a momento.
