Austerity Britain No 8
This is a roughly A1-sized patchwork union jack wall hanging. It was commissioned to illustrate the theme for an exhibition of contemporary jewellery, called Best of British.
The wall hanging (and a green version, for sale separately) were displayed in the windows and moved about in the shop for 6 months. But I am pleased to say that Equinox did a very good job in protecting the wall hanging and it shows no apparent fading or damage.
The wall hanging measures approximately 84.5 cm (33 1/4 inches) in width by 60cm (23 1/2 inches) in height. It is designed to hang in the landscape position (although Equinox displayed them in portrait orientation using their own clips for display - 3rd photo).
The wall hanging will be sent rolled and carefully packaged, and may need a warm iron on the reverse to remove creases from transit.

Original selling price was £150, then £125, now £95.
Inspiration
I made my first patchwork union jack back in 2008 when I wanted to show the 'make do and mend' state of mind that was re-emering during the 'credit crunch'. Nowadays, I see it as a celebration of handmade arts and crafts in the UK.
