Ribbon Flower handmade in aubergine ribbon
Description
A dramatic handmade ribbon flower in deep dark aubergine purple, finished with a pale yellow button centre.
I make these flowers on a handmade wooden flower loom and give each one a different button centre; then securely stitch it to a green fabric wrapped stem. The stem is quite flexible, can be bent or even wrapped around something, and the weight of the flower head gives it a nice natural curve when the flowers are displayed in a vase.
The flowers are 3" (7.5cm) across and the stems are 9" (23cm) long (measurements are approximate). As the flowers are all individually handmade yours may differ slightly from the photographs shown.
Inspiration
I created my first ffflower when I was experimenting with my set of vintage flower looms; I added a button centre and a stem to my flower and decided I really liked the result.
Now I create a range of quirky artificial flowers from all sorts of different materials, ranging from beautiful ribbons hand-dyed in the UK, to novelty yarns, and even upcycled plastic packaging.
