Giant pink daruma doll
Description
This is a Daruma Doll, sometimes known as a Dharma Doll. Daruma Dolls are used in Japan as symbols of good luck and perseverance. They are usually made from papier mache and have a distinctive face with mustache and beard and no eyes.
When you start a project or any new thing, you draw or attach one eye to your Daruma Doll. Then, when you have completed the project you add the second eye. The Doll brings you luck while the project is in progress and reminds you of the goals you have set.
I crocheted this doll in the amigurumi style. He was made using yarn which I reclaimed from a jumper. You will receive a tag with the doll stating what he has been recycled from.
The face is hand embroidered, free style and then stitched onto the doll by hand. You can attach eyes however you like: you can draw them with a fabric pen, sew them with embroidery cotton, use sequins or beads....
His measurements are: 6 inches high, 14.5 inches circumference at widest point.
The first picture shows what the doll looks like with both eyes. He will come supplied as in the second picture with no eyes.
He would make an ideal gift for a student starting their exams or a new school /college.
This item is not a toy and is not suitable for play by young children. It is stuffed with fire safe polyfill.
