White crocheted 'fat bottom' bag with spotty ribbon
Description
A white crocheted 'fat bottom' bag, the body of the bag is made in one piece, then gathered at the sides to give a bag shape before the handle is added and sewn in. It is lined in a white poly/cotton fabric with a pretty pink flower pattern. I put the ribbon on in various ways before deciding that I liked it best loosely hanging, but you can tie it in a bow if you prefer, or, as it's only threaded through and not sewn in, it can be removed altogether or replaced with one that matches your outfit. The ribbon is only on the front of the bag and I have included a picture of the back so you can see what it's like without it. The bag measures approx 16 inches wide & 10 inches deep, not including the handle. The yarn, lining & ribbon are new, the handle is upcycled.
Inspiration
I was watching daytime television (shhh don't tell anyone I said that) while trying to decide on what to make next, when they did a feature on fashion and said that white was going to be a big colour this summer so I thought I'd make a white bag. This was originally intended to have crocheted handles until I came across this lovely pair in one of my supplies bags, so with a minor adjustment to the design this bag was born.
