Drinking the Wind

Description

Thickly felted from my own Jacob Sheep wool, the dark and light natural wool depicts a horse head, neck arched and mouth open drinking the sea breeze.

Inspiration

Working the horses down on the local beach with the sea and sky in the background with the strong Orkney wind blowing manes and feathers the horses all born in Orkney seem to drink the wind, making them dance with life.
These pieces are based on several sketches and movement drawings I did at the time using broad brushes and thick textured paper… capturing the strength and power of the horses and the strength and power within the environment...
