Seagull Linocut 'Oolit'

Seagull Linocut 'Oolit'

Description

This linocut has been hand printed by myself onto Zerkall Mould Made Printing Paper 210g/m using Pure Blue Lawrence Oil Based Relief Ink. I have included some pictures of the print while it was being made. The printed area is A4 (297mm x 210mm) with a 30mm border. There were 30 prints in the edition (8 are now remaining) and each has been numbered and signed by myself. The unframed print will be cellophane wrapped against a stiff board backing and carefully packaged. Postage within the UK and packing is included in the price.

Inspiration

The word 'oolit' is commonly used in the Shetland dialect. I suppose the closest thing to its meaning would be 'rascal' Anyone eating a fish supper on Victoria Pier in Lerwick will have experienced the odd 'oolit' or too! They are so commonplace, that they tend to be ignored or on the other hand regarded as a nuisance. I thought I would make the good old gull a little but more glam!
