Small Turquoise Ceramic Dish with Blue Glass
Description
Ceramic Turquoise dish with blue glass. All my dishes are handmade and totally unique. This is made from eathenware clay and fired with a Turquoise glaze with blue glass. Size- 17cm square. Inspiration
I am also a ceramicist and feel Folksy is a good platform to show and sell some of my work. I have been using a variety of handbuilding techniques with clay since 2004. My influences and sources of inspiration mainly derive from medieval history and Arthurian legends.
For the past few years I have been using brass lustre glazes on earthenware.
I like the rich effect of the brass glaze when combined with glass and have used this technique on my series of dishes and platters.
As these glazes are lead based it is my attempt at a kind of Alchemy. When I see the finished result of the metallic glaze it feels like a change from base metal into gold has occurred. Working with clay feels like a magical process; sculpting, burnishing and firing. The end result can never really be predicted only guided. It makes you let go and leave the results to chance and relinquish control to the elements . It's Alchemy !
