Bespoke Handmade Doll 'ETTIE'
Description
Ettie is an original handmade doll and is part of a collection of dolls called The Handmaidens.
The doll starts out as a foil and wire armature and is then hand sculpted using polymer clay, I do not use molds. The doll is painted using acrylics and the face is water colours and pencil. The hair is mohair and the clothes are made from vintage fabrics. Ettie stands on an oak plinth which is painted blue and makes her 48cm tall.
My dolls are very delicate and are therefore not suitable for young children as a toy.
Inspiration
Ettie is part of a collection of dolls called 'The Handmaidens' based on a favourite book character Tess from 'Tess of the D'Ubervilles'.
'Ettie pretends to drop purses, whilst her little brother picks the pockets of her aiders'.
