Two seater rustic garden bench
The seat & back rail are Wych Elm, a rare wood in the uk due to Dutch Elm Disease wiping most of them out in the 70's Elm is very resistant to rain as is Oak making it perfect for the garden.
The legs, stretchers & upright back rails are English Oak. The plugs in the back rail are Black Walnut. It is jointed with a spigot & glued wedge. It measures 100cm at it's widest point x 54cm deep. The seat height is 41cm & is 50mm thick. It is finished with Danish Oil on the Elm & clear varnish on the Oak.
This is a traditionally jointed piece of furniture made to last that will become a heirloom & not tomorrows firewood.

Inspiration
The inspiration came from my love of Art Deco styling mixed with the natural shape of the tree. I did'nt know if it would work when I started, I think it works well & intend to develop the style in future work. The same angles are repeated throughout the piece.
