Handmade waterproof dog coat with chest protection & reflective strips 62cm back
Description
A hand made dog coat with chest protection. Made from a black soft brushed effect waterproofed fabric, with cream fleece lining for warmth.Finished with strips of reflective tape for safety at night & generous velcro strips to allow lots of variation in sizes.
Perfect for dogs who flick mud, or roll around as soon as it gets muddy! The chest protector section means all that's exposed is the head, rear belly (for boys bits!) legs and tail. Making clean up at home much quicker & easier. Also great for keeping in body warmth. Amber was toasty although the snow was up to her neck & they also prevent some 'balling' of snow on longer fur as more area is covered.
Please see the picture demonstrating how to measure to check for size. The measurements are: base of neck to base of tail, & the deepest part of the chest.
The coat measures around 62cm (24.5in) back length and from 75cm (29.5in) to 89 (35in) chest girth. (extenders are available for portly pooches!)
I make or adjust the patterns myself. So I can make for just about any size & proportion of dog. Other colours are also available, please contact me for further details on sizing & colours.
Inspiration
I made coats primarily to donate to rescue centres. So when I needed coats for my dogs, I made a pattern to fit.
I've made coats in many styles and sizes from puppy/chuhuahua right up to a 42 inch chested Bernese mountain dog! No size or shape is a problem.
Talking to owners, I found a need for a cost effective way to keep their pals warm & dry. Its also difficult to find a suitable coat if they are not of a 'standard' proportion.
I've drafted many patterns & also make fleece & knitted 'jumpers'.
Large manufacturers seem to feel big dogs don't need extra warmth or protection in winter. Or protection from inclement weather, as its impossible to buy above a certain size, as I found when I wanted one for my 24in chest mixed breed.
