Ribbon Flower handmade in lilac ribbon
Description
A pretty handmade ribbon flower in lilac hand-dyed ribbon, finished with a natural shell button centre.
I make these unique artificial flowers on a handmade wooden flower loom. I give each flower a button centre and securely stitch it to a green fabric wrapped stem which is quite flexible, and can be bent or even wrapped around something. The weight of the flower head gives the stem a nice natural curve when they are displayed in a vase.
The flowers are 3" (7.5cm) across and the stems are 9" (23cm) long (measurements are approximate). As the flowers are all individually handmade yours may differ slightly from the photographs shown.
Inspiration
I created my first ffflower when I was experimenting with my set of vintage flower looms; I added a button centre and a stem to my flower and decided I really liked the result.
Now I make a whole range of these quirky artificial flowers, from all sorts of different materials, ranging from beautiful ribbons hand-dyed in the UK, to novelty yarns, and even upcycled plastic packaging.
