Item details

This is an original beech Victorian spoon or bar back chair, featuring an open back with a mid rail with moulded edges and turned front legs. It was found in a sad state, having been left in a shed in Scotland for years! It has now been lovingly restored: loose joints have been fixed, the woodwork has been renovated and the upholstery has been replaced. It has a drop-in seat that has been fully re-upholstered using traditional methods, being covered in a beautiful piece of vintage satin cotton fabric, featuring a flower medallion in various shades of blue, green, purple and white. The woodwork has been updated by being painted white and sanded back in parts to give a distressed shabby chic look and to highlight the shape and mouldings of the chair. The white frame has also been given several coats of French polish and finished off by waxing.
It is a beautiful, good qualitiy antique chair restored and updated to the highest standards and it would look beautiful as a corner feature in a bedroom or indeed in any part of the home.
Sizes: 91cm (H) x 50cm (W) x 46cm (D) . The height from the seat to the floor is 49cm.

This antique chair was discovered in a sorry state and we have chosen not just to restore it to its original appearance, but to also update it in the hope of giving it another lease of life. For this we have chosen to follow the current trend for French shabby chic style. As a result, we have turned a once dark and neglected antique into a very eye-catching item that will bring a bright vintage touch to your home.
