Beach Huts Over the Tideline - Felted Wallhanging
Description
This small felted wallhanging would make a lovely gift for someone who loves the sea. It was created by wet-felting coloured Merino wool tops onto a white Shetland wool background, and was then embellished with tiny sea shells, driftwood and sea glass collected from the shores of Northumberland and southern Scotland, Baltic Amber (bought on a trip to Estonia), wooden beads (bought in Finland), a soapstone fish, and various other natural 'bling'.
The wallhanging measures 19cm x 31cm.
It has a cotton backing hand-stitched onto the reverse, along with a name/date label. Due to the nature of the materials, this item is not suitable for mounting under glass, so it comes with a small curtain ring hand-stitched to the reverse for hanging.
This item is for decorative purposes only: please keep out of the reach of small children due to small parts.
Your wallhanging will be wrapped in acid-free tissue paper for transit, and will be posted by First Class Post within 3 days of clearance of payment.

Inspiration
I returned from a walk along the beach in south east Scotland with a pocketful of tiny seashells, each one naturally perforated: the work of the Necklace Shell - a carnivorous sea snail which drills holes in other molluscs before opening and devouring them. These little gems were crying out to be stitched onto something, and here is one of the sea-inspired items I have used them on.
