Nautical Sailing Book Bag - with First Atlas Book
Description
This Nautical Sailing the Seas bag with Atlas book is perfect for holding books – or anything else your child wants to carry around. I made this bag by teaming a Japanese Cotton Linen Fabric called Kokka Nautical Blue Sailing with red plain cotton and a crisp cotton print showing brightly coloured sailing flags. This one strap bag has definite boy appeal.
The Japanese print features sailing ships with maps, flags, a lighthouse, a compass, an anchor and a ship's wheel. The bag comes with a brand new First Atlas book from Collins which has lots of colourful diagrams and maps of the World and facts about each country.
The bag is approx 12” by 10”, and is made from quality 100% cotton. It has one strong handle that crosses from side to side and is designed to be worn across the chest or over one shoulder. Both sides are finished with gilt buttons recycled from my button stash that remind me of a ship's wheel. It is fully lined in the red and flag cotton fabrics.
This would make a great present for a young reader or a child starting school.

Inspiration
Spending a morning looking out to sea in Penarth just made me want to make some nautical goodies. It can be difficult to find boys' gifts that are not branded and I thought this combination of a sailing print with the flags, combined with an Atlas, would appeal to the adventurer in most boys as well as to their mums.
