Inspiration

I bought this set of shelves at a sale and I believe they date from the 1920’s perhaps even earlier. Each shelf slots through the end pieces and would have had a wooden peg to secure the shelf in place. There was only 1 peg when I bought them so I cut a dolly peg in half to make replacements and then it was suggested that some old spoons would make a quirky, if unusual, peg so I hunted around and found some old silver-plated teaspoons as you will see in the photos.
One shelf has 2 pairs of small holes on one edge. When I bought them they were assembled however the top shelf and been put in back to front- the front edges are nicely detailed. I can just imagine the conversation when that previous owner realised it was back to front.
