Inspiration

Here we have wood from opposite ends of the spectrum – a very old plane made from beautiful beech wood, smooth, polished a tool possibly 100 years old that perhaps has been used to construct furniture that is still being used somewhere, and a piece of driftwood collected from Widemouth Bay on the north Cornish coast. It was washed up by the Atlantic waves from who knows where. I have lightly sanded it so that I could give it a wax polish and this has brought out some lovely shades and patterns.
It is firmly screwed to the plane and a clock movement added. It is free standing. This is not only a clock but a talking point and would enhance any room and make an excellent gift for someone special.
