Description
Introducing a beautiful and totally hand made coffee table using French Oak and Brazilian Slate. The oak frame is joined with a traditional secret mitre mortise and tenon joint, adding quality and increased gluing strength, giving you confidence in the durability of the frame. The single piece of slate for the top has a subtle stylish riven surface. The edge is chamfered and polished to a gloss finish.
The complete table is finished with several coats of Danish Oil, creating an easy clean surface. The robust qualities of both oak and slate mean that they withstand the conditions of our climate extremely well, allowing you to use the table indoors or out.
Coffee table size is 900mm long x 500mm wide x 470mm high with 20mm thick slate.

Inspiration
I was given an old slate bed snooker table that was damaged beyond repair and decided to make a garden table using the reclaimed slate and some teak I had in the garage from and old science lab bench top. Once I had completed it and it was in my garden, people expressed interest in it. This led me to source a supplier for slate (I went for Brazilian as it was said to be the best) and Oak (cheaper than Teak but still good for outdoor and indoor use) and make the coffee table you see here.
