I've named this colour combination after Audrey Hepburn - timeless and elegant with subtle feminine touches. And a bit boy-ish (in a good way!) It's my own design - 'Soundwave'.
She's made of top quality pure cotton (the owl fabric 45% cotton 55% linen). I've used the contemporary style of simple quiliting in horizontal lines along the seam of each stripe.
'Audrey' is 97cm x 107cm or 38 inches x 42 inches.
The fabrics showcased by the grey 'linen print' border include hand screen printed owl fabric, designer Lotta Jansdotter's 'Little Florine', 'Half Moon Modern' by Moda (leaf and butterfly). Alongside these modern fabrics are slices of embroidered vintage tablecloth. The tablecloth was stained (those bits are in the bin!) and including the remnants in this quilt is celebrating the unknown seamstress' work and a little bit of history..
'Audrey' is double bound with 100% cotton red and white polka dot fabric (I've washed this before sewing the quilt, so you don't need to worry about any colour run if you decide to wash this quilt!) machine sewn and then hand-stitched on the back for a neat finish.
'Audrey' is backed with plain white cotton and has100% cotton wadding/batting. All of the fabrics have been pre-washed to minimize shrinkage. I haven't washed the completed quilt so it will soften and pucker up for a more vintage look (the wadding will shrink 3-5%) if you decide to machine wash it on a low temperature. Made in a non-smoking, dog friendly home.
