Handspun Wool-SALE- 377 yards 6 Ounces White Devon (Rarebreed)
Description
Watchlist; Category 3, Vulnerable.
Devon longwool
A long-established native breed of South-West England (where I live!!), the South Devon and Devon Longwool, were amalgamated in 1977 to form the Devon and Cornwall Longwool. The breed is dual-purpose, producing a good carcass lamb and heavy fleece of wool. It is particularly suitable for the production of heavy lambs finished on fodder crops for the winter marker, while the hard-wearing quality of the wool renders it both warm and strong.
Perfect for 'outer garments such as shawlettes etc (I personally would also make gloves and hats from it as I find it surprisingly soft!)
Spun on my Ashford Traveller wheel (sweet Pea!) and 2 plied...I am really proud of this yarn as it is well balanced and a maSSSiiVEe 6 Ounce beautifully big SqUuOooSSShhYY skein!!
It is natural and undyed (perfect for dyeing enthusiasts or lovers of eau naturel!)
-Approx 170 grams
-Approx 377Yards
-DK toWorsted weight (light worsted)
-Would recommend needle sizes 5mm-6mm (8-10)
-Undyed natural (would dye beautifully!!)
I can wind into a centre pull cake of yarn if prefferred, no problem!
